He came to see me out of the blue. Why? (would like info from men mostly)

Hello. My ex-fiancee stopped by yesterday, just out of the blue. Early last month, we had discussed when and where we'd get married. Then he disappeared on me 4 days (he has no phone, so I couldn't call him) .. so, after 4 days, he comes to see me and tells me that he did not want to marry me and only wanted us to be friends (best friends). For the week that followed, I tried to be ok with that. But, could not deal with the hurt, so I told him to not come back. He didn't. He had left some things at my place, and I went to one of our spots, to see if he'd be there to give them back. He was there. Ok, so I gave him his things back. He asked me if I would meet him the next day. I said yes, but stood him up. Last week, I had to stop by my work to speak to my boss. My ex lives close-by my work, so I stopped by to say hi and let him know I'd be returning to work. He again, asks me to meet him the next day, I said I would, but again I stood him up. Yesterday, he shows up at my place. We went for a very nice bike ride together and we talked a lot...which is something we've not done in many months. We did not talk about our relationship, just general conversation. We went back to my place and visited out by the pool... We spent about 5 to 6 hours together yesterday. When he decided to go home, he got rather nervous suddenly and he asked if I would meet him later today at another of our spots. I said I would, then I hugged him and gave him a few kisses on his neck as we hugged. I noticed a big grin on his face when I gave him the kisses, and the smile lingered a bit as I pulled away. Then he got really nervous and axious again and repeated our plan to meet today. He asked me 3 times, if I will be there. He was really nervous/anxious when he asked me. He repeated several times, the time he will be there before he left. I'd like to mention, that each time he'd ask me to meet him at one of *our spots*, I would ask him to meet me at my place instead, but he kept refusing to come to my place ever. Telling me that he never will go to my place again. Why is he always wanting to meet me (even after I have stood him up 3 times now) and why did he show up yesterday, out of the blue? Is he regretting his backing out of our engagement? Does he want to get back together? Should I stand him up again, or meet him as planned? I don't know what to make of this. Also, I want to point out, neither of has a car...so we travel by city bus or bicycle. He opts to use his bike, and lives nearly 9 miles from me. I would love to get back together with him, if that is why he keeps asking me to meet him at one of *our spots* and why he came to see me yesterday. I just don't trust him now, to give my heart to him so quickly, if at all. What might be going on inside his mind? Any usefull insight or advice (especially from men) would be appreciated.
