a4a Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 At 17 years old I might just have the cat checked and euthanized. She had a good long life and the extra money for the tests might not be needed. I really think this is the best idea. I don't want to just drop it off at a shelter. I would feel like I abandoned her (the cat). I know they will just put her down anyway. So at least if I do it I can feel better about myself. I think this is probably a wise decision considering your situation..... you could simply attempt to put the cat on antibiotics for what could be a very nasty UTI.... it could be something that simple. If so you will have to pay the $58 and probably about $14-$28 for the meds.... then you get to pill the cat... that is always fun!
Author robkris8079 Posted August 29, 2006 Author Posted August 29, 2006 UPDATE: My aunt that works at the vet found out what they did to me. Basically I bring a sick cat in and have zero dollars and no time for the cat. They racked up $177 charge running tests and stuff and I still have the cat. My aunt was pissed. So the cat is being brought back today and being put down. I still have to pay the original $177 but I don't have to pay for euthanizing the cat or cremating her. If anyone was wondering the cat was exactly the same. She didn't get better. I am going to be straight, I didn't give the cat the meds. I tried like all hell but I couldn't. I put it on some wet food for her but I don't think she ate it. The dog did though. This was one of the reasons for the cat to be put to sleep in the beginning. I don't have time to spend on a healthy cat right now let alone one that needs medicine three times aday. Jessie I love you and will keep many memories. Jessie AKA Fat Cat 1989-2006 R.I.P.
ddw5195 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 I know it is an old thread but new post and I hope I helped in telling you can call the house of mews...... it is here in local in my state(TN) but is know all over the world they will be able to direct you in the way you need to go. also you can go to any local vet and post a sign and ask your vet of any places you can send this cat. like an retirement center for elderly animals. you sould be able to find a link on a place called gaurdian angels where they do not put animals to sleep but foster them out and find homes for them. I am really sure they can help you if you told them you reason why. hope I helped:o
