It's been over 18 months and time to make it official. We've gone through the property division and all the issues with the kids have been resolved.

We want to jointly file an uncontested divorce and I've been looking at alot of the online divorce sites. I found a good one, but I would really appreciate some LS input.

The online divorces cost between $250 and $400 depending where you live among a few other things. But to me it sounds like this is just to get the forms. You still have to file it in court, and although one site said that is around $100 I am wary that we'll still end up spending $1000's like most people.

We don't want to involve lawyers, not at all. We have verbally agreed on everything, we just need to write out the details for the documents I believe.

Has anyone had this experience? Thanks.

I dont know about online divorces, but if you guys agree on everything (although I think getting individual consulation is a good idea, atleast in the beginning), you both should be able to hire ONE lawyer that represents the two of you. It will cut down the costs, and you'll know it's legal.

Thanks for the tips. I think I will write out my side of the agreement as to what we agreed on when we separated way back when. Then go over it with him, it's things like when I get an extra room put in my basement, then I get my daughters bedroom suite from his house, and when I get my yard landscaped I want my birdbath back! There are a couple of financial loose-ends that we need to put in writing but nothing major, and writing out the custody arrangement and how to pay for kids activities/clothing since there will be no child support.

Then I will talk to the lawyer who I talked to before, and not let him sway my decisions in any way and see if he will do the joint filing.

I just hope I catch my ex in a non-anal mood. I just told him this morning that I am buying a new SUV (don't worry, it's not HIS money I'm spending).
