Gunny376 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I'm reading "The Tao of Willie" A Guide to the Happiness in your heart ~ by Willie Nelson wit Turk Pipkin. To parahrase: "Once you quit trying to be "normal" and just concentrate on being "you" and accentuate the "posiitve" in your life ~ good things will start to happen to you. When you quit trying to be whatever one else expects you to be, and just be the best you ~ your life will turn around for you!" There's a lot more really great stuff in there ~ especially if you're trying to find your "center" again, and regain your mental bearings. There's nothing like learning from someone who's gone through hard times, and Willie came up through hard times. He's not always been where's he at today. He says, "You can acquire knowledge, which usually a good thing, but you cannot acquire wisdom, wisdom you have to be" I highly recommend it, I checked it out of the libarary.

More positive insight is needed at times like this.. Willie always seems to be one of those people who... seems genuine... I'm gonna look for that book:) ilmw
Ladyjane14 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I just got a copy of his new album, You Don't Know Me, The Songs of Cindy Walker. Even the sad ones make you feel weirdly optimistic. Haven't read the book yet. It sounds interesting though.

Went through some rough times trying to make it as singer and songwriter during the 50's and 60's. LOL! He tried to suicide himself while in Nashville. LOL! I won't give it away but its hillarious the way he attempted it! To say the least, the man's got a unique perspective on life!

bluechocolate Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 The Tao of Pooh is a good little book. "Lots of people talk to animals," said Pooh. "Not that many listen though." "That's the problem." This is my favourite: "Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind, "Pooh!," he whispered. "Yes, Piglet?" "Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."
ilmw Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 The Tao of Pooh is a good little book. This is my favourite: I see we have another avid reader... I found that book to be a nice change... from some other books I was reading back then:)
