Guest Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Probably a typical story with a very typical ending but thought I would share it anyways to get it off my chest. About two months ago I went on a double date with my best friend and his girlfriend who had set up one of her co-workers. The night went fine and I got her number and called her that week to go out for coffee. No answer. Later I found out she was too shy to pick up the phone so plans were made again for another double date about a week or two later. The second double date went fine as well and at the end I asked her what she was doing the next day and she said she wasn't sure but would let me know. The next day she texted me that her plans with some friends seemed to have been dropped but she would let me know. Later I get a call from my best friend's girlfriend to ask if I wasn't busy to go swimming. So later that night I came by to go swimming and the girl was there. We had a great time together and at the end she said she would call me the next day. She did. Unfortunately we didn't get to talk for too long. So the following weekend rolls by and I text her (I would've called but she seems to prefer texting) to see if she would like to go swimming again. She says she would but will let me know for sure. Later I get a call from my best friend to ask if I want to go swimming. So I get there and there she is again and we have a pretty good night. At the end, my best friend goes to drive his girlfriend home and it is my first chance really alone with this girl. So we talk for a bit, I give her a massage and I walk her to her car. Then I decided to go and kiss her. She kisses me back. I text her the next day to say I had a fun time and say that next time we should go swim in the river. She jokes back that I probably just wanna go skinny dipping with her. Later that week I text to see if she would like to go for some ice cream in the rain (was raining at the time). She says she loves the rain but it was her grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary that weekend and she's with her big family celebrating (she's Italian). The next weekend I decide to call her, no more texting, to hopefully go out one on one but she doesn't answer. The next day I get a text saying she was sorry she missed my call but will try to call me later that night but if not, to have a good day and she'll talk to me later. Cool. About a week goes by and I don't hear anything so I text her that I would like to take her out this weekend and what day is best for her. She texts back rather coldly that she has no clue but will let me know. Never heard back from her that weekend. It's been about two weeks since then and I bet the answer is to move on but I was hoping to get to know this girl a bit more. The last two times we went out I definitely felt a vibe between the two of us. I don't know if the shyness is a factor in this or something else. But I feel the ball is definitely in her court.

bluechocolate Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 But I feel the ball is definitely in her court. Yep, it is. And don't hold your breath that it's going to be volleyed back your way any time soon.
gfto Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Later I found out she was too shy to pick up the phone No. A woman who is highly interested in you is not shy. I asked her what she was doing the next day and she said she wasn't sure but would let me know. I text her to see if she would like to go swimming again. She says she would but will let me know for sure. The next day I get a text saying she was sorry she missed my call but will try to call me later that night but if not, to have a good day and she'll talk to me later. About a week goes by and I don't hear anything so I text her that I would like to take her out this weekend and what day is best for her. She texts back rather coldly that she has no clue but will let me know. These are all classic signs of low interest. It's called "the definite maybe," which translates to "I'm not interested." The last two times we went out I definitely felt a vibe between the two of us. She did not, which is all that matters. I don't know if the shyness is a factor in this or something else. Something else: low interest level. You have this girl mixed up with someone who cares. Move on.
