shoedevil Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 And i think the study you cited is probably flawed. Many of the married people I know are not that happy and some are downright miserable. And the divorce rate in US is like 60%. I'm perfectly willing to admit the survey (and many others that concur with it) are wrong, but I doubt you can point to any studies to the contrary. Every time I hear someone begin with "many people I know" to justify a generalization, I know reason and logic aren't involved. The divorce rate is a projected average of all marriages that will probably fail. My chances of divorcing my fiance once we get married will be far lower than the average (which is 40-50% for first-time married couples). We have similar interests, a common background, and the same ethics and values. I disagre b4R...mainly because after the age of fifty there are many more available women than men. The ratio favours men as we age so most dudes won't be alone. Rather, they'll have 100's of lonely females knocking on their doors. Actually, over the age of 40 there are more women than men. However, 25% of women over age 40 are either widows or single and are totally celibate. Most of the rest are married. And just because a woman's over a certain age, it doesn't mean she only has to date men over the same age. Clearly, you assume your sterling personality and high opinion of women will help you during those golden years. If you're wrong, I hope you have some other hobbies to stay occupied.
