morphius Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I'm curious, Do you think that music can help you through the tough times of a break up? I would almost certainly say yes, however I bought a new CD today. Me and my Exs sort of music. I've had it on and been sobbing uncontrolably for 2 hours, Do you truly think that music can be beneficial?
burning 4 revenge Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Hell yes! If it wasn't for music, literature and LS, I'd be wasted 24/7, and, or dead I'm going to start working out again, I think that will help with the depression also Thanks be to Allah most merciful she had deplorable taste in music.

InaPanic Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I honestly cannot listen to any music right now as it all makes me think of my situation & it all makes me want to cry. It really pisses me off because I turned him onto Dave Matthews, my favorite artist EVER & he found all these songs that reminded him of me.....so now I cannot bear to listen to these cd's. I just keep telling myself eventually I'll be ok & be able to listen again. But for right now every song I hear makes me want to cry because it makes me think of us/him. Pathetic I know.

It's not pathetic, It just triggers a memmory or a snippet of time. You will be ok, you will be able to listen and enjoy...I will too at some point.
fireflywy Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I say put in a good action flick. (here comes the shameless plug). In my case it was 14 hours of Firefly and the movie Serenity
quankanne Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 yep, music can console even when you're at your most desolate. I've got albums dedicated to certain crises in my life and during those times of hurt and pain, they meant everything to me. Now I can listen to them and think, 'oh yeah ... I kinda remember how bad I hurt when I played it over and over and over.' same with happy times. I've owned my Bug for about 20 months now, and was thrilled because it has a CD-stereo in it. Want to take a guess what has been playing for about 95 percent of that time because the music just ... fits?

Blackfrost Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 If I had Bill Gate's type of money, I'd have a band follow me around everywhere in life playing whatever song I felt fit to that momentary event that was occuring hahaha I LOVE music!! Life needs a soundtrack. I'm in line to get through security at the airport.....<queue the nowegian black metal with 210bpm double bass and 7/8 time signature - go!) I'm coming to bed, and my woman is there <alright boys, queue the Legends of the Fall Brad Pitt love scene music....then 10 minutes in, give me a transition into europorn Rocco Sifreddi groove> I'm at work < queue the slave gallion boat rowing music from spartacus>
InaPanic Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 All i can suggest is whatever you do DO NOT listen to Beck's "Sea Change" cd. It's one of my favorite cd's but I dont' think i'll ever be able to listen to it, it's all about a break up & it's heartbreaking. There's one line in it that says 'these days i barely get by'....I think we can all relate/or related to that. For me it's right now.
Brittjean06 Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Its beneficial for the artist who make those songs( lyrics ) so it must be great to listen to and know that EVERYONE has felt exactly how you felt. You can easily relate to some lyrics and feel like the song was meant just for you, that way you know you are not alone. They say crying is healing and I believe it is.. I sometimes don't want to listen to some sad songs my ex was interested in it really tears me up.
