My bestfriend always seems to know when I am pmsing, probaly because i don't really want to chat on the phone and rather watch tv. She got annoyed but I really can't help it sometimes. Normal? has to be

I heard eating chocolate can really boost up seratonin, call me crazy but I googled it. They say pms fades away right when you get your period hence the word Pms but no matter what i eat I will allways have well the runs.. Gross I know but those are just the symptons I have.

Girls? what about you

Irritable, no patience, combative and crave and lose control over my alcohol consumption. Also I get needy and insecure. But on the other hand, I sometimes get a weird shot of self-confidence. I feel freer to speak my mind and don't worry about the consequences. Physically, I sometimes experience extreme fatigue and horniness!:bunny:

my breasts ache like nobody's business. I am a lot more blunt and curt with people. I lean more to the anti-social side and have binge urges galore. I also tend to be a bit more emotional. And like Touche, i get randy.

Damn. Ditto for me, too. As someone who is currently in the throes of PMS, I can also say that I tend to dwell on all of my physical flaws and have an insatiable craving for all things salty.

I also completely sympathize with the not wanting to talk on the phone stuff. When you're PMSing you just want to forget about your problems and ALL problems in general, not listen to someone drone on and on about theirs. Geez!

Grave salt and more salt, breasts swell and hurt (bf loves that, not the hurt part) terrible cramps sometimes. I mean fetal position I want to cry, & very depressed and or just moody. Like everything is just wrong in my life.

I almost forgot the bloating YUK. It's so bad that I know what I would look like pregnant.

I sleep... A LOT, and I'm always hungry and eatting everything. That, and I'm always super horny when I'm on my period . That's actually about it. :)

I used to get cramps for 24hrs on the first day SO bad, that I used to faint in the middle of wherever I was JUST from the pain. For years I had doctors' notes excusing me from school or work, because I could faint, fall, and hurt myself that first day.

However, ever since I got on birthcontrol - haven't had a cramp since. :) I use the Nuva Ring.

How does that help cramps? I hate the cramps. I too got time off school and work because they are so bad. I have never fainted but it's so indescribable. My bf is fixed so I have never consider BC but if it would help my cramps I would.

Yeah pms sucks I just try to snap out of the " depression " and say wake up its just pms. Its not that I don't want to hear a friend venting her problems to me but sometimes I am not in that chipper mood to be my self and me all funny. Does anyone else get diareah?

I get tired, I crave chocolate and I have really bad back pains, especially in the colder months. I dont get cramps, but the back pain is more then enough. Some times I am irritable, sometimes I am hornier then usual. Other times I feel like I am a Zombie. Damn being a girl sucks.

I don't usually notice PMS, but a few times during stressful times I have gotten crazy emotional - crying, depressed, the world is ending - then I'll realize that I'm premenstrual so I can blame it all on hormones, yay.

Posted

1. ravenous mode

2. not so hungry mode

(either/or accompanied by clumsy sometimes)

3. other ailments magnified (allergies, mostly)

4. chilly

5. tired earlier in the evening; fall asleep before midnight - often on the couch thinking 'I'll just watch the end of the newzzzzzzz' I HATE being tired. It makes me feel as though I'm ill because I usually have lots of energy.

6. backache

7. 'ovary stabs' - sneeze, cough, or stand up suddenly and feel two stabbing pains - one per ovary

8. crabby and/or depressed easily; that's when I remember if I've forgotten to pop the E's

9. NEED CHOCOLATE

10. might potentially eat every cashew in the place; I buy small quantities lest disaster ensue; failing cashews, crackers will do

11. sore bosoms

12. bloat (my thighs! - WTF??)

13. intestinal grumbles (fortunately not major, but protests are made evident LOL)

14. headache

15. 1st day euphoria

Cramps are fended off with doses of AC&C and hot tea

This is the lineup with them happening pretty much in that order from mid to end of cycle. I never have to count days since they are so predictable.

I take extra B vitamins and make sure to supplement with vitamin E daily from midcyle on. The E helps mood a LOT for me.

Almost everything has been covered.

The "A to Z Symptoms of PMS" for the general population, that is. I must admit though, there are definately a few I've never experienced - and sound very discomforting.

I usually experience: Inflated/swollen stomach, deflated stomach (feeling as though I am 10lbs underweight), horniness, abnormal levels of satire and sarcasm (directed), and isolation. My mind frequently goes into deep deep thoughts about my life, reality, analyzation of items/persons/concepts, and the future in general.

I have no idea "how" it stops cramps, but the FIRST time I used it, it worked! My gyno didn't even mention that that might be a side effect. I'm guessing it's just the increase in harmones or something. If I would have known what this does for cramps, I would have started birthcontrol YEEEEARS ago!.

Now, my gyno gave me three free nuva rings (three months) just to try, maybe yours will too. I'm not sure if all birthcontrol does this, because the nuva ring is the first, and only form of birthcontrol I've ever used. It wouldn't hurt to go ask your gyno and find out though. If it works - all the more power too ya, right?! :D

Wow, I had never heard about anyone else experiencing clumsiness, OC. I always end up with a black and blue mark around my thigh/hip area from walking into something. I also drop and break things.

Has anyone noticed a problem focusing during that time? I forgot about that one. Short term memory problems too.

Oh yeah 'fog brain'. Gotta LOVE that one. Not. That's chemicals, too. Estrogen and brainpower are linked - fluctuate the levels and - lucky you - your thinking is affected.

I once read a theory that the increased amount of water in the body includes increased water in the brain which causes some of these symptoms - somehow messes up your directional abilities. It sounded maybe plausible.

Oh sheesh :)

1) A lot more emotional and easy to anger/cry

2) Constipation, which i believe is the cause of my major cramps. Thus, a few days before I dont eat anything salty, and I eat lots and lots of fiber, tofu, salads, etc. It helps with my cramps if i time it properly.

3) Very tired and depressed, more anti social than normal.

oh I think things like avoiding other people are VERY normal. When I was on BC pills my symptoms were far worse then not, but thats beside the point.

Symptoms for me:

* regular old physical aching, cramps etc.

* tired/sluggish

* want to eat sugary and fatty foods

* a couple of days of irritability - rather of being EASILY annoyed

* pick fights/over-react/over sensitive

* Opposite of constipation is ALWAYS a sign its coming!

these are symptoms at their worse. my sister gets sooo moody we call by another name when she is PMSing, that personality gets a name all its own. her name is crystal we call her sarah, maybe your friend can call you sarah :)

I'm weird. I have no idea what my PMS symptoms are. I just chalk it up to being crazy. huh.

Hello

OK i just realized that i suffer from severe PMS or PMDD.

Hotgurl & Dgiirl it sounds to me that u have some symptoms of PMDD also.

Ever since i turned 30 the week before my period I get:

- moodiness

- cry for no reason

- sad & depressed

- anti social

- analyze everything negatively

- can't concentrate

- just want to be alone

I looked these symptoms up on the computer & it all said loud & clear that i suffer from PMDD.

It sucks!

You aren't necessarily suffering from PMDD. PMDD is PMS writ large. It's PMS on steroids. It sounds as though you have regular garden-variety PMS but if you think you're worse off than most, go see your doc for confirmation.

It seems every 3 months or so I'll get a bad bout of PMS...When it hits not only do I physically feel awful but emotionally too.

Bloating, hot/cold flashes, some anxiety, headaches/migraines. Then I feel nauceous and light headed too. Because I physically don't feel well, it puts me in a mood and I don't want to talk to anybody as I get really grumpy. Sleep, advil and a heating pad is a good thing! Chips and chocolate too!

But, those inbetween times I don't get bad PMS, it's just some cramping and I feel bloated, abit irritable as well.

You gave me an idea for a spin-off thread like this one about Ovulation.

I swear I've gone up one full cup size this time out! It's as if someone hooked up an air pump and turned it on

I forgot, i also get a runny nose

Posted

Oh yeah, duh! I forgot to add that about the boobs. They get bigger and become very bouncey!
