Is it true that you have to wait 6-8wks to have sex after a pregnacy?

Most woman do wait this long to get the go ahead from the doctor. Mostly it is important to wait until all bleeding stops to make make sure you are not going to introduce bacteria into the uterus. Also, If you have an episiotomy or vaginal tears you need time to heal. The first time after a baby can be painful.
