Did I scare him away?

I made what you'd call a booty call agreement with this guy I met at a hardware store I was working at about 4 months ago. We both had a lot going on....I was trying to get over/not go back to my abusive boyfriend, and he had just gotten out of a 4yr with a kid that he can't see. I would never put myself out there as a booty call, but for some reason he intruiged me.

 

From the start, He told me not to get attached because he didn't want to end up having to hurt me. He said that for some reason he attracts a lot of "crazy" women and he doesn't understand why. And he flat out told me he is somewhat of a man-whore and that he USED to be a player with women. At this time I didn't care at all, and I was happy that I was basically forced to put my guard up. I thought it was nice that he put it all out there in the beginning....

 

Well eventually he totally flipped things around. We started talking more, having really good in depth conversations. I was coming over during the day (not just late at night), going on his lunches with him, partying with him and his friends and getting to know him pretty well from what I thought. He told me it was "just me". I had a hard time believing it, but I tried to let myself.

 

I told him about everything with my ex, how he used to treat me and all. And one night, he looked me in the eye....and genuinely said "You don't see how beautiful you are. I want you to see that and I want to help you see that you deserve a better guy than that." as he almost started to cry.

 

Then another night I was drinking at his apt...my ex called me and i got in an arguement with him over the phone. I started drinking really hard and then I overheard one of this guys friends laughing about he and some girl "how broke the toliet" a few nights before in his bathroom. I tried to stay cool about it, but by the end of the night I lost it. I was crying and he was telling me he didn't have to see me so sad.

 

I was so drunk that I spilled a drink over 2 cell phones he owned and his laptop. And the only thing I remember was crying when he told me that he had truly fallen for me.....

 

Well, its been a few months now. I bought him a new phone. He dropped the calls, and found a new girl. I hadn't heard from him in a while, just a text of "i still love you" ever hear and there.. Until the other day when he reminded me that his laptop was completely fried and basically hinting that he wanted a new one. I told him I'd replace it and asked if I could see him. He was being sweet but he said that it probably wouldn't be good because he now has a girl who he is labeling as a gf? She seems like a nice girl, but alot of ppl have said that she lacks personality and that I'm a little better looking. But he said that he'll call me *soon*, but he needs his laptop by 2 weeks.

 

Sooo I think I know the answer to this..but did he just try to tap into my emotions so he could always have me at the side?

 

And is there any way that he would just use a girl as a prop .... just to say, back off I have a girlfriend??

 

And I can't help but wonder if he was just scared and ran?

 

Should I get him the computer??

I'm not too sure what to say about your situation, because it seems tricky. He DID say that he was a player when you both first started seeing each other, and also not to get attached because he might end up hurting you.

 

Whether or not he is seeing another woman, I don't know. If he is scared of commitment, even if things were going great between you, then its possible he isn't actually seeing someone else, but again, I don't know. I would recommend keeping in touch with him, maybe talking about the situation, and seeing where things go.

 

As for the computer, well, I have always had the belief you should be responsible for your actions. If you DID spill a drink on his computer and it really is fried, then you should probably be responsible for getting him a new one!
