Guest Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 My boyfriend always says that it seems that I don't really need him. It's true, I'm independent to a fault. I do need him for love and affection and he fulfills that deep need in me perfectly. I need some good suggestions for how to make him feel needed! He's not really into fixing cars although I did have him help me with some brake problems I was having. I also own the condo we live in and the vehicle we drive. I'm also 2 years older (I'm 27). I'd LOVE to hear any suggestions.... L
tearful_soul22 Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Been in that same situation before especially if you're career oriented, independent, and set in your ways. They feel threatened and start being needy..lol, but there are ways to acknowledge the love they give which is only right. Basic suggestion would be for you to start writing love notes to him, a nice poem, hug him often, go away together on a weekend somewhere romantic, watch a sunset together, have him teach you something he knows, compliment him, listen openly to his opinions about certain issues, discuss future plans together, candle light dinners, and don't forget to say your i-love-you's all the time. As for the age issue, i don't see any problems being just 2 years older. Hope this helps. Take care and my best to you both!
Outcast Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 If ever you need something repaired or moved, ask him. Ask him to help carry the groceries, even. Don't refuse his offers of assistance, even if it's for something you can do for yourself. Even though you 'need' him for his company, it seems a lot of guys don't get that and why it's important so let him 'do for' you when he wants to.
magichands Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I do need him for love and affection and he fulfills that deep need in me perfectly. Why don't you tell him this? Failing that, tearful and Outcast's suggestions are good ones. Or you could print this thread out and give it to him: http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t94899/
