so i used to date this guy in the navy, totally awesome when he was here in the states, the moment he left he radomly picked fights in emails, in attemps to brake up with me. finally, he said he wanted to brake up and i said sure, i moved on and now the story around town is that i broke up with an innocent navy guy while he was at war...so not fair.. i should be the one people feel bad for not him, just cuz he is at war.. so yeah, is it normal that i am actually starting to pay attention to all what people say or should i just dust my shoulders and call a spade a spade.

You'll be one of the most miserable people on the planet if you pay attention to the negative stuff other people say. Ignore it.

As for your Navy friend, this happens a lot...and for a multitude of reasons. Many military men in action feel very helpless to conduct a practical and reasonable relationship over a long period via email and snail mail. They'd prefer to break up with the person rather than risk having it eventually done to them...which is very often the case. It's very hard for a single woman to deal with a boyfriend who might return home in a box anytime.
