RandomGurl Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Hello all, I'm new to this forum. I'm 17 and I really wanted to ask for peoples opinions on something. You see, I have always been attracted to older guys, meaning 21 and over. I do not find guys my age attractive at all and I can't bring myself to go out with someone my age either. I don't know what it is but I do prefer an age gap relationship. So is this a bad situtation? I mean I have never been attracted to guys and I have never had a crush on guys my age either. I find I'm attracted to older men. Even celebrities. I mean Jeremy Kyle, David Beckham, Juergen Klinnsmen, etc ... I don't want people to think I'm sick, but I am concerened that my sexual attraction towards guys, isn't like most other teenagers. I feel really shy and embarrassed to discuss this matter in person which is why I decided to join an online forum. Is there a reason for this? I have always felt I am different from most teenagers and I have been told I am more synical, mature and have a great understanding of peoples feelings than others. I really hope someone could offer me words of advice or even share with me how they feel about their attraction towards people. Many thanks for reading, Laura
superconductor Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Girls naturally mature quicker than boys, both physically and emotionally, so this isn't anything you should be worried about at all. At 17, a girl is at, or near, her physical peak (sexual peak comes somewhere in the late 30s or early 40s). Boys that age, on the other hand, are just starting to discover these other creatures that are all soft and curvy and pretty and smell nice. Up to then, the boys have been too busy chasing rocks and chewing on bees. In short, you're simply interested in someone who's more your equal, physically and emotionally. That's good, very good, because it shows that your maturity level is strong.
typical Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 No, its not bad. Its how you feel. Acting on it, however, might be bad. Best to wait until you are of legal age. I was the same way as you at that age. Young guys skeeved me out big time. Still do. I wont date anyone younger than me. Even though some men these days are worse than teenagers. Guess I cant win.
norajane Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 A few years age difference doesn't mean there's anything wierd about you. Lots of girls are attracted to guys who are older, especially since teenage boys tend to be so, um, immature. Don't worry about it (though don't act on your attractions just yet). You'll get to college and hit your stride then.
Pyro Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 More power to you if you are attracted to older guys. In a way, it shows that you have a mature side. Just be on alert and keep your ears and eyes open with older guys. Some guys tend to assume that younger girls are dumb and naive and may try to take advantage of you in some way.
blind_otter Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 It's fine, but wait until you're of legal age before you act on this. I didn't start dating until I was 19, and though I did give a few guys my age a chance, at this point in my life I refuse to date any man younger than 30. IME there is an entire sub group of men and women who choose to only date people who are older then them, for whatever reason, so you are not alone. Don't be embarrassed.
Author RandomGurl Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 Thanks very much for your replies. I do feel a lot more comforted now. It's just none of my friends or family are like me. Theres no age gap (that are 5+) and my friends have boyfriends their own age and I just do not find guys my age at all attractive. I wasn't sure if my image gave the wrong impression out to people as though I was tart or something. I do get on with guys better than girls anyway and I find that I am instantly attract and can find an immediate connection with guys who are older. The legal age for sex is 16 and I'm classes as a proper adult at the age of 18, so how long do you think I should wait before I "act upon" my intentions? Thanks again for your replies! Laura
Max Overclock Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Up to then, the boys have been too busy chasing rocks and chewing on bees. THIS is a classic, superconductor! Sooooo true .... but it go worse when we actually looked at those curvy, nice smelling beings for what they are. OH my ... I may have to add that one somewhere in my signature.
