Hey guys, if one of your balls looks different or abnormal, would you go to the doctor to get it checked out? If you had a girlfriend tell you how worried she is, what would you do?

Yes, my boyfriend says one of his balls looks weird and it has been for a few years or so. It's not painful though. But if it's testicular cancer, it doesn't HAVE to be painful. If it is, it most likely means it has spread to other organs.

I've been crying about this since lastnight. I said it could be a tumor for all we know. He won't listen to me. He thinks it's a hernia.. yes, THINKS. Exactly, he doesn't even know what it is. I'm going to have a serious talk with him again today. This is breaking my heart that he's not even worried about his own health.

we are not allowed to give out medical advice. tell him to see a physician right away.

Evolution did not breed men for self-preservation. If they don't care about their own health, they die off faster and women can be inseminated by more men, thus enriching the species.

A friend of my family (my sister is friends with his sister) recently had a girl dump him because he was getting too fat. Like morbidly obese. His ex begged him to go to the doctor, get on a diet, at least eat vegetables. He wouldn't do it, so she left him. It was sad, but you can't be with someone that doesn't care enough about themselves to take care of their own health.

The flip side: a guy who takes care of himself gets to inseminate more women.

I think I'll go for a run now.

I was actually thinking about that. Exactly my thoughts: I don't know if I can be with someone who doesn't even care about their own health.

It breaks my heart to even think that. But, it's true... I'm so in love with him though. This is just... so confusing to me. I hope my talk with him tonight will do something. I know I'm gonna end up crying in front of him. Damn it.

I appreciate the input.

Personally, if i had something like that. i would go see the doctor. Even if its just to get checked out. Ive been to see my doctor before now and was nothing to worry about was just fatty tissue. But i wouldnt have know if i hadnt of gone. plus it stops the worry, tension and thinking it could just drop off :D

I think people deal with things differently, especially something with their own body. Fear of the unknown causes some people to deny there could be anything wrong. Thinking it won't happen to them, they've lived with it for a few years and aren't dead yet so they've grown accustomed to it. Younger people believe they're invincible, and after an initial scare quickly dismiss it. You on the other hand are processing the information for the first time.

You could approach it from a different angle. Let him know you'd like the option of having a long life with him, and it would ease your mind if he'd go. You're the one who's stressed about. (Which I would be too if I were in your shoes) So ask him to do this for your peace of mind.

Guess I grew up in a long line of men who won't go to the doctor even if their hand falls off. Course, they were all short-lived men. But I learned a couple tricks to get them to go. Always had to find a way to do it so they would save face in going. Not sure why there was/is such a stigma for men not to go to the doctors, but some men feel that way very strongly about it.

I don't think it's quite right to lump him in with a morbidly fat man as an example of lack respect for your body. And then to consider dumping him because he isn't thrilled about a doc poking and twisting his nut sack all around, just to get charged a grand for the experience.... just seems wrong to me. But, it's your life.
