BareGoddess Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Ok, I have a male friend and we disagree on something. My question for the single ladies: Do you ever wear a ring on your left hand ring finger? My question for the men: If you see a woman wearing a ring on that finger, do you automatically assume she's married or engaged? Do you even check that out first?
MissTiss Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I do. I have always worn rings no matter what finger...sometimes my hands swell...depends on what fits where. It is never anything that makes me look attached, but nowadays I guess you never know. I make it pretty well known that I am single and looking so the ring has never been a problem.
Winfield Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 My question for the men: If you see a woman wearing a ring on that finger, do you automatically assume she's married or engaged? Do you even check that out first? Yes, I would assume she's taken, and therefore wouldn't think of "chatting her up" in the hope of landing a date.
Author BareGoddess Posted July 12, 2006 Author Posted July 12, 2006 Thanks so much Miss Tiss! Anyone else. Would love to hear from men too on this! After I get enough responses I'll say which side I'm on on this. I have a bet riding on it!
Pyro Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 My question for the men: If you see a woman wearing a ring on that finger, do you automatically assume she's married or engaged? Do you even check that out first? Absolutely. I would always check her out first, then look at her hand for a ring, and if no ring was there, then I would attempt to strike up a conversation with her, that depending on how shy I am that day.
norajane Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I sometimes wear rings on that finger, because that's the one they fit on best. They aren't anything that looks like a wedding ring, though I have no idea if it's stopped anyone from chatting me up!
Touche Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I agree with the ladies on this one! Seems the men have a different view though. Interesting.
Sapiens Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 My question for the men: If you see a woman wearing a ring on that finger, do you automatically assume she's married or engaged? Do you even check that out first? You know, I usually don't. I look for signs of interest first and then ask is she is committed if contact is made. -Sapiens
Sally00 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I'm single... as in not married. But I am with someone. I started wearing a ring on my ring finger on my left hand. That's only cuz it's the only finger it fits on... and on my right hand I already have a ring. People won't think I'm married or engaged because it's only a MOOD ring haha. And it doesn't even work. My friend has a promise ring with a little diamond or something on it. It's also on her ring finger on her left hand. It's a ring that symbolizes virginity before marriage. I love it, it's beautiful. I want one.
CrazyJ Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I wouldnt wear a ring on my ring finger until I was engaged.. When i'm looking at a guy i always look to see if he has a ring on his ring finger, so i am assuming guys check that out as well!!!
Outcast Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I've always worn rings there because it's the spot (at least on right-handed people) that's least likely for the ring to get caught. I wore a ring my mom bought me for a long time and wore a school ring for a while and now I wear what was my engagement ring but doesn't look like it. I don't keep it for memories but just because it is a beautiful ring and looks nice on my hand. And it's about the only 'real' jewellery I own that's not too fancy to wear daily so it stands up to wear & tear much better than costume stuff does.
johan Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I've always worn rings there because it's the spot (at least on right-handed people) that's least likely for the ring to get caught... I can understand that. I know all my other nine fingers are always out there getting into stuff and getting caught on stuff. But that finger is pretty much always retracted. It's like the shy one.
Outcast Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 LOL - in fact I switched my mom's ring to my right hand once I got this ring. One time it got caught and the shank ripped clear in half. Nothing like that's ever happened to my left hand
precious99 Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 My question for the single ladies: Do you ever wear a ring on your left hand ring finger? I am not married but I am with someone. But even before I was dating my current BF I would sometimes wear a ring on my left hand - especially if I was going out with some friends to a club or bar amd wasn't in the mood to chat or be chatted to .
Shane361 Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I know of alot of ladies that wear rings to ward off men. I dont even pay attention to them. I treat each person as a potential friend. If we get to know each other it will come out who is what. Shane
