As some of you already know after reading a number of my posts, I've been having an ongoing casual sex relationship with this guy for a year. I truly understand that this kind of relationship "is what it is", although it gets confusing when both of us throw out mixed signals in maybe wanting more. The only reason why I think I'm holding out hope for him is that he has mentioned before in subtle ways that he wants to be more than just f buddies. But keep in mind that we've agreed to have opposite sex friends.

For instance, about 6 months ago I was hanging out with him at his place, when my phone rang (at 1am). I looked at the caller ID, him sitting right next to me, and saw that it was 1 of my guy friends. BUT I don't think he saw who it was, although I think I gave it away when I didn't answer it, and that was that. Then a week later I was out with 1 of my guy friends at a club, (where my f buddy sometimes visits). Later on that night when I was still with my friend partying, I got a phone call from him. I didn't answer it so he left a message. In the message he said (kinda mocking me-voicemail) "hi this is (my name) I can't answer my phone right now because I'm at my bf's, so leave a message and I'll get back to you" WELL I thought he meant he saw me at the club with my guy friend, forgetting that he probably meant the time I didn't answer my phone in front of him because it was a guy. SO I called him back the next day and asked him kinda in a huff what he meant by his message, and he played it off that he saw me at the club, and I then told him he was just my friend and nothing more. He then said he was joking and didn't see me at the club. Of course then I realized he was probably talking about the time I didn't answer my phone. So from that point I assumed that he labeled us bf/gf.

After that incident I still wasn't really clear on what he thought of us. Until we had another incidence of mixed signals. Like I said we've always pretty much agreed that we could have other guys/girls as friends, but I think once we talk about other people in front of each other, it gets a lil sticky and jealousy kicks in. But this time, about a month or 2 after the first incidence, we got in an argument about the same thing, and he blunty said, "well it's not like we're bf/gf" I was like WTF?? A month ago you said something totally different now you're telling me this?? That's when I kinda blew off the handle and ended up taking a break for a month.

The question is, why would he take his words back?? What did he really mean in the first place, and did I do something wrong in that period of time that he changed his mind? Or is he just a commitment phobe?

You two are developing feelings for eachother. You two will end up together in all likelyhood, then you'll be posting here about him being jealous of your guy "friends" and what to do.

Get married and get it over with already.
