ellaC Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 My husband and I were married for over 5 years until we decided to separate. Before we got married I have a small business and its earning enough for myself. When We got married he invested some money from our joint bank account. And now the problem is he wants to get or wants to have a big share from the business. The business is in my name and I want the business back. What do I do? I found an article...http://www.divorceguide.com/finances/101/selling-and-dividing-proceeds-of-your-assets/...it provided only a little information on my case. Is the article true? Or can someone help me find more supporting facts on my case. Thanks in advance.
amaysngrace Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I couldn't access the article. The webpage was there but I didn't know exactly what to search. Anyway, you need a lawyer. There are lots of factors involved. You had it before marriage, but did he sign a pre-nup? If not, it's a joint asset. Also, was he working outside of the business or was it his sole source of income? Where you live plays a part as well. I think the best thing you can do is talk to an attorney and find out what your options are. Good luck to you!
westernxer Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Anyway, you need a lawyer. I concur. A lawyer is your best resource.
