PeanutHead88 Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 I know I've posted this subject alot, for some reasons the thread Is completely lost. any ways; in your opinion, what kind of person would it take to call you once a month from a private number and hang up? or 5 times in that day to hang up on you? It could be the ex; But Im not hoping for contact, what scares me is Hes doing it to keep tabs, to put false hope and to bring me back to day one, and sadly it being a year and all, it has in some ways. 2 months ago when I got the phone call I put together in my head, He must be out of town away from his gf to do this, and what do you know he was away from her. I sent a text, and I don't care if it made me look foolish telling him you know if its you you need to stop because I can get this call traced, now hey stopped, and only happend one time 2 months later. I know My assumptions could be wrong, but they could also be right.. if it happens in the future, shoulden't I get my number changed, I meen it woulden't be that much trouble to do that?
superconductor Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Fix the problem. Change your number. End of story.
jerbear Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Why not call the phone company to block Private and Unknown phone numbers?
Author PeanutHead88 Posted July 3, 2006 Author Posted July 3, 2006 My dad is being retarded about it, the account is obviously in his name. The calls haven't been happening as much but for my own sake , I'd like to change it It really takes me back :-( My dad says their operators because they happen to him to, but I know they don't happen to him like they happen to me and plus No1 I know gets these calls but whatever..
westernxer Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Tell your mom to nag your dad about it. He'll probably change it then.
crystallizedrose Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I'm guessing the number appears as "unknown" or something similar in your phone? So, my question is - do the hangups occur when you do answer, or if you don't answer? That'll tell you whether it's a telemarketer or not, right there.
jerbear Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Mom nag... that is funny Accidentally turn off the ringer... in silent protest. Not the best idea when there is an external emergency trying to call in at 3am.
Diver012 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Tell your mom to nag your dad about it. He'll probably change it then. Now thats funny.. hehe

Brittanyjean06 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I just looked it up on google, and came to a forum where they were talking about nuisance calls. It honestly could be a telemarketer, they call and usually wait for another person to pick that call up than they hang up if they can't find someone...Next time I'm just gonna wait on the line ,

It honestly could be a telemarketer, they call and usually wait for another person to pick that call up than they hang up if they can't find someone...Next time I'm just gonna wait on the line , I told you that a few months back, my friend works in a telesales company, they call 20 numbers at once, and the first to answer they talk to, the rest get hang up or silent phone calls. They are becoming more common. I'm almost certain that is what you are experiencing, as I get them lots too.
jerbear Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Here is a trick, get a local number portability when you move, and when a telemarketer calls, don't hang up! On some telemarketing systems, it does not hang up therefore the marketer has to hold that line open.
