I saw a few children of cheaters in another thread and it got me thinking...

How many of you have a parent that was a cheater?

Did it negatively affect your life?

Did it seriously impact your view of him/her?

I'm just curious how many people like me there are out there.

Me, me! I'm in the club!

It did impact my life on many levels. My own relationships/trust with men. I ended up a product of divorce (which leads to more levels). On a positive - it taught me that I would never want to do that to someone else or hurt someone that way. I have never cheated on anyone because of it.

It did affect my relationship with that parent. It took about 10 years for me to really forgive him enough to look him in the eyes. I love him dearly. But I do not have respect for him. Well, as a father I do, as a man - no.

My dad cheated on my mom. But my husband's parents were faithful to each other (and my husband is the cheater). Go figure!

Mine didn't. My father was an alcoholic and at times thought my parents should be divorced (they stayed married - were strong Catholics) because the fighting was awful. I guess I wouldn't know if my dad cheated because the bar is the ideal place to start an affair.

i think my dad sucks for it so i guess you could say it changed the way i view him

another great thread subject. My dad was a cheating alcoholic. Although he has been with the same woman now for over 10 years (a country librarian-in my opinion an emotional weakling who will put up the s***.) I dont know if he has cheated on her too. It wouldn't surprise me. However he still drinks. He's 63 now.
