tanbark813 Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Ouch, thats freakin rude of her! Yeah, I think the flakiness tends to be more common in online dating. So, allina, you're in the Bay Area too, huh?
Lonestar Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 No, that wasn't me. I know you wouldn't cancel on me. We set up the date over email and had never spoken on the phone. I was supposed to meet her at a place in her town about 30 minutes from me. I was walking out the door and she called and said her car broke down at a friends house in another town that was also about 30 minutes away but in a different direction. I offered to drive out there instead and meet her at a restaurant in THAT town. She agreed and said she'd call me back with the details but I never heard back from her. ok, good. No that wasn't me. haha, and no, I wouldn't cancel on you. If you didn't live on the other side of the friggin world, I would have met you a long time ago. I've had a few guys from online blow me off too (believe it or not :gasp: ). I don't take it personally because they probably have the same reasons I do for not calling back or answering the phone again. Could've been a personality conflict, or they like women with dark hair and dark eyes, maybe I make them nervous, or we come from different backgrounds. It could be one of a multitued of reasons, but it happens to everyone - even moi
Lonestar Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 So, allina, you're in the Bay Area too, huh? Haven't you learned your lesson?

I've been to the Mint once and another one--Silver Cloud or something like that--but they were both packed and it took forever to get a song in.

There's even a regular there with no limbs who sings.

Sand&Water Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I've encountered a few creapy guys, or in some cases jerks. Only a couple guys were nice, normal and almost gentlemen-like. But, not to the extent of meeting face-to-face. I wonder: Is it a good sign when the guy demands your number, after both of you have talked for a few weeks? That's what happened to me. He nicely wanted to phone me up, but I declined. Sometime went by then he offered his phone number. Would it be wise to call him? or him call me?

Demanding isn't very nice, especially being demanding of a stranger
Art_Critic Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 I wonder: Is it a good sign when the guy demands your number, after both of you have talked for a few weeks? It sounds like if was trying to push it along.. I won't email with an online woman for weeks without going to the phone way before that. I have had too many cases where you email for say 2-3 weeks then you talk and have no connection.. What a total waste of time. You need to get to a face to face as quick as you comfortably can.. No more than 2 weeks to get to a face to face.. ALL of the relationships that I have had from online have worked that way.
