Sand&Water Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Question #1: What does it mean to have a double standard? In other words, if someone exercises double standards what does that mean he/she is doing? Question #2: Is it possible for a woman to unintentionally come across as having double standards? or to fool the other with idea that double standards are attainable and acceptable in society? I need some clarification in this field. Thank You for reading.
Diver012 Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 I thought this definition seemed appropriate a rule or principle applied more strictly to some people more than others (or oneself) Your second question... Yes. But I think it goes both ways.. its not exclusive to either sex
Author Sand&Water Posted June 17, 2006 Author Posted June 17, 2006 I thought this definition seemed appropriate a rule or principle applied more strictly to some people more than others (or oneself) Pardon me, but I don't understand what you mean. I'm trying to get my head around this concept. Why would a guy accuse a girl of having a double standard, when she's just trying to look out for her own back and not get hurt? I thought double standards delt with trust conflicts, security, among other issues in a relationship.

A guy might accuse a girl of having double standards if she expects more from him than she is willing to give. Selfish, in a way. Or possibly controlling.
