nalo Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I hope someone can help me with this one. For the past 8 months i have been "dating" the most perfect guy. We met about a year ago, an from the moment that our eyes met their has been something between us. The problem is he speaks Spanish and i speak English. I know what your thinking......He understands most of what i say, he just cant speak. So when we talk we really have to listen to each other..i can not remember the last time a guy listened to my every word. I would like to learn Spanish. I have purchased the learn Spanish Cd's they have helped a little but they are for people planning on traveling. I do not need to know how to call for a taxi or ask for a table next to the window. I need to learn real everyday words. Before I met this guy I was in an abusive relationship for 6 years (I'm 32). I am not sure where this relationship is going, or where it can go. I do know that right now this guy is helping me rebuild everything in me that my ex destroyed. As you may have noticed i am falling in love with this guy. As for him, i am not sure. The other night as we were saying goodnight he wrote on a napkin Te quiero. Tu eres mi vida. with a little help from my lap top Tu eres mi vida is you are my life and Te quiero is i like or i love. I took it to mean i love. It made more sense to me I love you, you are my life. Last night he ask me how do you say te quiero in English. I said i love you he looked at me like i had 10 heads. If you know how i can learn real everyday Spanish, or have any idea what is in this guys head please let me know.
paige367 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 How romantic...I hope it becomes all that you want it to be. Do you know anyone who speaks Spanish who can help you? Can you take a class at the local college or community college? Is he attempting to learn English? Maybe you could "tutor" eachother?
Bogun Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 It made more sense to me I love you, you are my life. Last night he ask me how do you say te quiero in English. I said i love you he looked at me like i had 10 heads. He looked at you that way, because the spanish have two ways of saying what in english translates as "i love you". However one of the ways is not nearly as strong as "i love you", but thats what it translates as, and thats why spaniards will say it very early on in a relationship.
Author nalo Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 thanks I know a lot of guys get scared when they hear those words early in the relationship, and run. Should i talk to him about how i feel or just let it go for now
