Guest Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Hi there - I am curious to see what people have to say on this subject. (A little about me, I am not one to enjoy clubs and do not mix work relationships into my personal life.) I would love to have ideas from you of great places to meet people in the age range of 35 yoa and 45 yoa - high caliber people - I could care less about money - I am a very independent woman, more interested in people of substance. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Okay, so that you know my point of view, I am a 45 YO man, married for five years, well-educated and well-traveled. Although I met my wife at work, we did not start dating until after I quit that job. But the two women I dated most recently before I met my wife were both introduced to me via mutual friends. Those were also the only two blind dates I have ever had. So friends can be a great source. Other places to meet quality men are classes (cooking, boat building, whatever), wineries (it's easy to meet people when wine tasting), wine bars, cafes, (especially artsy, independent ones), museums, art galleries, etc. Do you live in an area where you might have those options?

Hi there - I have to admit I am in the NYC area so all of the above would work - great ideas. The unfortunate thing is that I hate artsy type things - terrible isn't it - I am just a simple person that enjoys the outdoors. I recently moved to this area, so friends are still in the making. I will most definitely make the effort to do some of these things, just in case there is someone that I would normally not meet elsewhere. I also liked the idea of volunteering - that would be great all the way around. Thanks to both of you for responding.
paige367 Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Have you ever thought about trying internet dating? A few of my friends and I have had quite a bit of success. Now you want "high caliber" people...I'm guessing the ratio of high caliber to regular guys to just plain old jerks on the internet is about the same as the public at large. Just be careful and safe. We use yahoo personals. Good dating and good luck
