waitingforlove Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Hi, just a general question for discussion: What do you think people really mean when they break up with you and say they "really like the idea of being friends with you"? Do you think they feel guilty and just want to try to be "nice" by saying that they'd like to be friends? Do you think they really care to be friends at all deep down? Or is it true that they REALLY want to be friends?
Rosalind Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Do you think they really care to be friends at all deep down? they don't care...and they're usually lying when they say that.
GB111 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Hi, just a general question for discussion: What do you think people really mean when they break up with you and say they "really like the idea of being friends with you"? Do you think they feel guilty and just want to try to be "nice" by saying that they'd like to be friends? Do you think they really care to be friends at all deep down? Or is it true that they REALLY want to be friends? Probably different for everyone, though I think it's generally an attempt to not change their life too dramatically. Subconciously, they probably want to know that you're still there, though I'm not convinced everyone knows that that's the way they feel. Pushing someone over the edge to break up is crossing a line. Rarely does anyone cross the line so dramatically that the other individual is convinced that they would never give the person another chance. Hence all the games people usually get involved in, and hence the reason NC generally works. Dr. GB
