Shyguy86 Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 I got a Teberculin skin test done a couple of weeks ago with negitive results. I went back for a second test on the other arm today around 10 o'clock. I was having a shower at about 4 and I noticed 2 small bumps behind my right ear. Another hour went by and I noticed a large one right above the other two, and than another two behind my left ear and one in the middle. This has never happened to me before and I'm kind of worried. The lymph nodes in my neck feel fine. I'm wondering if the TB test could cause this or if it's a sign of TB. I'm going into the doctors on thursday for the TB test results and I'm going to ask him about the bumps. I'd love some piece of mind for the time being. Has anyone had or heard of this? Should I be worried? I'm 19 and as far as I know have no health problems. Any advice would be great!!!
Outcast Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 You might be fighting a cold or virus. Don't freak out and most importantly don't keep groping them - that makes them get bigger. You'll be fine. I'm sure your doctor will confirm this.
Author Shyguy86 Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 Thanks for the reply outcast. Hopefully it's something simple like a cold, but the nodes right below my ear arn't much larger than usual. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'll try my best to stop playing with them!
basscatcher Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Have you been exposed to someone with TB? What makes you think you may be infected? I was exposed to TB by a friends wife who is from Indonesia. No one caught it from her. She had to wear a face mask and the works because she was home with her infant son, her husband and of course friends came to visit. No one else got it. When I was first tested the doctor told me that if your immune system is strong enough (which in the US most of of us have fairly strong immune sytems compared to 3rd world countries) our bodies usually fight off the virus if we were mildly exposed. I had recently had Mono at the time of my exposure to her and I didn't get it. TB is not common in North America. Mumps are increasing in report. There have been several cases here in Minnesota and surrounding states of mumps. If your TB test came back negative and you redo it 5-6 months later and its still negative there is very minimal risk. You could just be fighting off allergies and maybe a rash from allergies. I know as I get older I am discovering all kinds of weird things changing with my body. ex: adult acne, allergies (respitory and skin), loss of metabolism (energy), etc. Do you smoke? When I smoke to much my nodes behind my ears and on the sides of my larax swell.. Don't panic.. Let the doctors figure it out.
laRubiaBonita Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 how are the nodes in your groin and armpit area?
