DarkDwarf
How To: Post I don't wanna be accused of back seat moderating, but it seems that a lot of people here need to learn how to post so that it is easier for others to read. First Tip: Try to Seperate Long Stories. If you are typing a long story seperate the different parts of the story. If you are typing about school use the different classes or periods to seperate things. Like the text below... Here is my story... First Period: We reviewed the test. She kept wispering to me. I was going to ask her out, but I couldn't get the guts... Second Period: I finally asked her out. I was sooo happy. She said YES!!! We are going to go out to the movies this weekend... Third Period: News travels fast. Everyone knew by third period. I MEAN EVERYONE. It was slightly embarrassing but I was sooo happy... You get the point Second Tip: Make Titles and SubTitles Bold. Make the titles bold. It looks good. As you can see I am making my titles bold. Another example is show below... Third Tip: Make Lists. Making lists looks a lot better than typing a bunch of reasons out in a sentence. See Below... These are the reasons I am in love with her. 1. She is really nice. 2. She is extremely funny. 3. She understands me. Forth Tip: Seperate Sentences and write full words. This is a HUGE reason. Punctuate your sentences and write words don't write like "frgt" write "forget". Two examples below. One is bad. One is good. I thing that she is really good forth period we wanted to make out b/c it was pe and the teacher was der i frgt what happened fidth period I think that she is very nice. Forth period we wanted to make out because it was P.E., but the teacher was there. I forgot what happend Fifth period Fifth Tip: Google words you don't know how to spell. This is just a nuisance. If you can't spell a word Google it and you should get the correct spelling. That's it for right now. Hope you enjoyed this. DarkDwarf
Touche
"Forth" is supposed to be "Fourth." Poster Good Grammar can't spell!
Art_Critic
Seperate which is used multiple times is mispelled each time.. I might suggest a spell checker.. or I might suggest your own tip Fifth Tip: Google words you don't know how to spell. This is just a nuisance. If you can't spell a word Google it and you should get the correct spelling. Separate is the correct spelling

Solachica
Well am new around here and it's a bit difficult at times to read longgggg post tht seem to just go on and on. It's first time am seeing such long posting on a Forum.
Author DarkDwarf
Jesus Christ. I just read this whole thread, and it is as funny as hell. I will fix fourth and seperate as soon as my edit button appears. I hope I did not make any errors. Laugh Out Loud. (I decided against using "lol" because it is against my principles. ) Solachica, were you refering to my post, or someone else's. I really think we should get a smartness system integrated into the forum. (See forums.facepunchstudios.com) It takes away points for making simple gramatical errors, and when you reach zero you get a ben (I believe it is for 3 days). It doesn't help everything, but it makes some posts easier to read. -DarkDwarf
Author DarkDwarf
That's because he really didn't graduate from DOT SCHOOL! I do not see the need to yell. If you would have just said Dot School it would have been better. I also believe it is Dot University not Dot School.
RecordProducer
Actually I am amazed by how people can write their stories nicely! They make little movies out of their stories and I find them easy to read. Sometimes they contain irrelevant details, but that happens pretty rarely so I don't mind it. (I am talking about thread starters, not all posters). The writing style is probably one of the only things I don't mind about LS. Besides, I understand that not all people have the same talents and level of knowledge, even when it comes to spelling. After all, I use the writing style as information too. If you want to be on a forum with many people, you have to accept that their education levels vary. I find it discriminative to make fun of them. You can laugh in your head, but don't do it publicly please. It hurts the people who might be very nice and kind, but don't possess the writing skills that others expect from them. Finally, I personally don't like it when people are trying to buy my attention with visual effects. I prefer to visualize their points in my head the way I see them. I don't have attention deficit and don't want anyone to tell me which part of the post I should pay attention to. I pay attention to the WHOLE post. If it was important to you to write it - it's important to me to read it. People's lives are interesting enough. You don't need to color them like the boring school books and outline some facts so that the reader doesn't fall asleep.
Author DarkDwarf
I completely understand that people shouldn't have to color their stories, but it is a lot easier to give people help if the divide their story into parts (adding a line break) or even in half. It is easy to pause and think about what they already wrote.
HokeyReligions
Ah, the grammer / punctuation / spelling police have returned! Don't worry, DD, they come out in all of us sometimes. Everyone's style varies depending on what mood they are in, how hurried they are, or how impatient they may be when responding. Sometimes I check my own spelling - sometimes I don't. I would put money on other posters being the same way sometimes. Don't forget, english is not everyone's first language. Also, have you read the guidelines for posting? Either there or in the initial email one receives when they join, it mentions breaking up long posts. There are no rules for using bold or for structuring a post in a certain way. To each his (or her) own.
Outcast
DD, your rules are poorly written and unhelpful. You might want to try Strunk & White, Lynne Truss, and Fowler before you attempt any great works of literature.
