My girlfriend just told me she thought making love was cheeeeeesy. The multiple e's being her touch. She loves me very much though ... no doubt about that.

Funny how this making love idea seems to be going out of favor. I guess it's all just how you perceive it in your mind. Perhaps I'm cheesy to be upset.

There's a distinct difference between making love and pure unadaulterated, dirty, sweaty, fantastic sex!!

Making love is something you do to the wife, sex is something you do to someone else's!! ;)

If this message doens't cause a stir in the ranks, nothing will!!

Going out of favour? When was making love going out of favour! It's very much in favour to me!! I love the slow closeness of making love to my SO.

But don't get me wrong, I don't always want to 'make luuuurrrve'.... sometimes I wanna f***! :D

There's different types of sex depenant on your mood and what you fancy! Just because you're having sex with someone you love, you can still be 'f***ing' rather than making love!

Ehhh kind of sounds strange now I've written it down... does anyone know what I mean?!! :o:confused::)

I kind of understand what you're gf is saying. I don't think it's an insult to you or anything. Though, you might want to ask her to clairify why she personally thinks it's cheesy.

I always get this idea of "making love" as some sappy sweet, need a glass of water to wash it down, kind of idea. Not that it is, but the idea sometimes makes me feel like that. Guess it depends on what kind of mood I'm in at the time. Sometimes making love sounds great. I want the long drawn out kisses, the slow carasses, etc. Sometimes I don't. Like LittleKitty was saying. Sometimes you just wanna f***, and not mess with all that "oh I love you so much" bull crap.

So if she's saying it's cheesy, then maybe she's asking you to turn up the heat in the bedroom some? Add a little more down and dirty, hot and passionate, to the scene. Instead of the long, slow sweet aspect you've been showing.

You probably ought to ask her what she meant by cheeeeesy, and how she views it, before you go throwing some porn moves on her though.

I used to say that. The sad fact is that I never made love to anyone until about 7 years after I started having sex. I had sex, and it felt great. I had no idea that making love was any different, but I did scoff at it.

Ultimately I did make love with a partner and it was definately different, and nice. But it did make me a little uncomfortable.

I understand what you're saying LK.

Walk is right on the money. If all she's been getting is making love she's possibly craving the f***ing. Don't you? Does she get both and yet she says that? Well then there are cases of women who just don't enjoy the slow, romantic love making situation or not as much as they do dirty to-the-point (excuse the pun) sex.

You do need to find out though...

Let's face it. The act is pretty much the same, isn't it? The difference is really a state of mind.

Ehh I'm glad you all knew what I was getting at!! I wasn't sure I was making much sense!!

Yeah sometimes I want that slow sensual sex, and sometimes I want it hard, fast and downright diiiiiiiiiiiiiirty!!! :)

You've got to please all sides of a womens sexual persona.

I totally get what your saying, although, whether SO and I are ravaging each other like animals, or moving at a slow passionate rhythem looking deep in each others eyes, it's still considered making love to me because, well, I love him.

I used to say the same as your gf ehead. I was going through a really rough year when I was 18 facing lots of insecurities and not trusting men. Now that I have found the one I love, making love is wonderful!!

*Making love* involves intimacy and sharing whereas *f***ing* is quite unemotional and selfish. No wonder *f***ing* is more comfortable for some people - they are the same ones who are afraid of emotional intimacy.

Wow I have to say I'm impressed SF. :bunny:

I personally think 'f***ing' is a self-centered act, based on a lustful desire to get laid. It's usually somewhat animalistic in nature, as in "f***ing like bunnies". The whole point of f***ing is to relieve your pent-up sexual tension.

Making love is a gentler form of sex, involving love instead of lust, where one spends more time paying attention to his or her partner's orgasms than to their own. It's a lot like snuggling that just happens to involve sex.

I think they both have their place, sometimes you want to be sweet and make love, and sometimes you want to dig in your claws, let your inner beast take control, and f*** like crazed weasels. Just remember that your partner gets to do the same, so don't bitch about it when you wake up with bite marks and scratches...

For me, f***ing has just been about getting off, pure and simple.

Making love, aside from all the wonderful emotional stuff that goes on, is about making my partner feel good. This could involve f***ing, sucking, or any other sexual activity, but it can also involve giving someone a massage, making them dinner, giving them flowers because you can't be there, and a million more things.

Nothing to be *impressed* over - it's common knowledge. Or maybe not. :)

Most people seem to agree that you can happily have both types of sex in a happy relationship.

So it's not set that a 'f*** = afraid of emotional intimacy'.

As Spidy says, sometimes its about the beast in us!

I agree wholeheartedly LK.

'f*** = afraid of intimacy' is quite a harsh statement. Although if a person tends to sway towards f***ing the whole time and totally dismisses any kind of love making then yes, I would maybe tend to agree with SM to a certain extent, that these people are afraid of emotional intimacy on a certain level.

I'm pretty sure that's how he meant it. Oh wait, this is SF we're talking about so let me rephrase that before he jumps and says I'm an a**h*** and am trying to put words into his mouth. "That is how I read it and why I thought it was insightful and concise."

Honestly I think it's weird if all you do is make love. It's just as bad as always f***ing. How boring.

I've seen some posts where a poster reports that all their partner likes to do is missionary position. Well, yeah, that's effing boring as hell, too.

I think we can safely agree that a good, healthy sex life involves BOTH activities, f***ing and making luuuuuv.
