I am in my late 20's and would like to meet people my own age. I live in Houston, texas - in the subburbs. This city is known for the lack of ease in meeting new people and possible dating partners. I have joined a political club in my area and started volunteer work. I keep meeting 40 somthing men, but no women and no guys my age. Where would you guys recomend I go to meet new people and possible love interests?

Cozy up to the 40 something men. They might have kids your age!

I only kid because I'm in the same boat. There is a huge apathy in our age group for people to volunteer and participate in political forums. I have met some wonderful people I would love to have as grandparents, or in-laws, but as far as dating, it's a no go.

I seem to meet people in the most unassuming places, like an art supply store, walking trails, and as I've been walking down my home town's main street. When I go out with the purpose of meeting someone, I tend to leave dissapointed, so I've begun to just start talking to strangers (hope my mom isn't reading this) pretty much wherever I go. Most of the time it ends in a simple 'hello', but there are times when something more develops.

Konfudz - Thanks for the advice. I will try walking and since I paint the art supply store sounds great! I also love talking to strangers. My mom would hate that too!

JustWantToBeHappy - I will definately pass the 40-somethings along to you. Volunteer - there are really nice men who are compassionate and friendly. They are not the kind to mess you around either.
