Nope its not that big of a deal I don't guess. I just found it a little odd I suposse. Anyway, I was out on the porch this weekend, smoking like usual. My husband doesn't smoke, he used to, but has been quit for about 10 years now. He had no problem quitting. However he does use that skoal tobacco.

Anyway he comes out on the porch with me, and all of a sudden says, "Can I have a cigarette?" I looked at him funny, and said, "Why? Where did that come from? You have never asked me that before." He then laughs and says he was just kidding. But he did say, that "for some reason, the smoke didn't bother him like it used to, and that it smelled pretty good."

I think that was weird, because any time he has been around me while I was smoking, he will say it stinks, he doesn't like the smell etc. But according to him over the weekend he says out of the blue, it didnt bother him and actually smelled pretty good. In 10 years of him quitting he has never said this.

I told him he was welcome to one but that I hoped he didn't start back since he had quit for 10 years. And he chewed that skoal anyway. Now I didn't want to sound like I was calling the kettle black, since I smoke anyway, I was just saying to him I hoped he didn't, but if he did, it was ok and it was his choice. I couldn't help but think that either he has started back thats why he asked for one, or he has been around others that smoke and he wants to start back. Then again just being around me might have made him want another one. But after 10 years? Do others think it was odd that after that long he would ask for one? Do you find it odd that after all this time he didn't like the smell now says it doesn't bother him and it smelled pretty good? I have always smoked, so that was nothing new. What do you think?

Sometimes you just have one of those strange moments where everything seems great -even the smell of tobacco.

Maybe he was having a tough day, and wanted to chill with a smoke.

Maybe he has been thinking of asking you a few times and this once it finially came out.

Maybe you looked hot smoking that ciggy, and he wanted to strike up a conversation with this hot chick.

Who knows, but if he is thinking about starting, maybe you should start thinking of quitting.

Why is it such a big deal to you that he might want to start smoking again and slowly commit suicide if you are? You guys can just kill yourselves together :)

Guest,

Does it matter to you whether or not he smokes? I mean, I understand you are his wife but that doesn't mean you'll hold him back from whatever he wants to do. I truely think, you're only encouraging him. You're smoking all around him !!

Perhaps, if there was less smoking going on around the house then I'd say you'd be concerned. But since that's not the case, then let him be. At least you can both smoke together, now!

You're right, it doesn't really matter. And yes we can kill ourselves together.

It was a question just like any other. I think it was perhaps he was stressed at work. Anyway, he hasn't asked for one again, and if he does, you're right big deal.
