Okay...

so.. I'm 36 and I'm single. For a variety of reasons.

I don't have kids.

I don't THINK I have TOO much baggage.

I have my own house (literally all paid up - no mortgage).

I have my own car (not paid up).

I have my job which I love.

I have my friends.

The problem...? I'm 36. I'm single. All my friends are married and have kids. How am I supposed to 'date' with people who are the same when they hardly exist..?

Anyways.. so my question is... what do you guys think about internet dating agencies...?

huh...?

IMHO, it doesn't hurt to try something at least once. I tried it, but I personally prefer real life over internet but try it if you are interested.

Never tried them. I don't hear much good about them though. There is one site a guy at work recommends every time the topic comes up though. He met his wife there, not to mention several women before her.

I don't remember any posts on this site that said they were any good. You should do a search and see for yourself.

I don't think it's very likely I will try one. I've considered it, but the idea doesn't really appeal to me. That's just me though. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, I just prefer to think I could meet someone the old way. At the grocery store or something.

:D

I have one friend who uses online dating and got a few GF's for me, I got less than a handful that went beyond 1 date.

So in my opionion, your online dating experiences may vary. Does not hurt to try but use your experiences, gut instinct, and do a search on LS for their points of view.

I even put a thread on it also and sure there are MORE.

Since you are single female of about 36, you can move to the US with me!

Happy camper since I just finished my grad requirements!

Right now, I'm looking at jobs. Just graduated grad school, so right now the world is my oyster. :D

Found one in down under (Australia & New Zealand), DC, NYC, and other places. So from US to within US.

Oh wow a topic way up my alley ;) Having known every site there is for as long as they've been around and having helped some few tens of people get around in them and eventually find their one I can say for a fact they DO work. However it's not the most popular ones that do. I can't give you an exact list (for now, remind me in a week or so when I get PMs and I should be able to then) for obvious reasons much more so that many of them also have forums so that would be unfair to LS, but it's the neiche ones that work best.

Also, I'd say that what you need if you're going to dive in that is first and foremost a smashing profile, I can't begin to explain what a difference it makes.

Last but not least you don't need to limit yourself to dating sites, find some forums on topics you're genuinly interested in, some Y groups or newsgroups and you'll be surprised how easy it is to hit it off with someone when you're both into "Fanatics about Potatoes" or even part of "My roof is sturdier than yours!" and that way neither of you would be thinking of the stigmat of "oops met on a dating site" too much. (That tip's from personal experience more than the other ones, Mr and I did meet on a politics/news forum;) )

Regardless of what you eventually decide feel free to nudge me about the list of sites once I have the damn PMs:(

I've noticed that as we get older we have issues finding good men and women because they are all already married with children. I feel your pain. I am almost 30 and do have a b/f your age but he is my boyfriend so anything could happen tomorrow and it is scary knowing I could be in the dangerous dating pool any day...

You are right anything can happen but at 30 (female) and a guy (36) is not to bad. Granted the guy can go younger and women go older so the norms right now seem to be in each parties favors.

It is not easy, as a early 30's guy who prefers older women. It is an uphill battle. Older women feel that the my age is a hinderence and being stable as in proven is not easy. Some posters of another thread say date for the current and not potential. I say look at history, current, and what their plans are in relation to yours.

Keep looking hard. Keep your appearance reasonably good. You may come with many dead leads but keep looking.
