JadeStar Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Help me out guys. My husband recently started taking the herbal supplement, Saw Palmetto. He takes many supplements anyway, some that I don't see the point in. I read up some on the Saw Palmetto, and from what I gather its for or can be for men who have BPH, (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) Now to my knowledge he doesn't have this. I know it says something about improving urinary function and prostate function etc. It probably wont hurt him, of course I don't know that for sure, but my question is, should he be taking something like this if he is not having any problems? Could it do more harm than good? I'm one of this people kind of like if it anit broke don't fix it types. In other words unless a doctor has told him to take it, and/or hes having problems, I'm not sure what the point is. Jade
JackJack Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Perhaps its to help reduce the risk of having prostate problems later on. However, I would be leary about taking some of that stuff unless otherwise told to do so by the doctor. JMO.
