jerbear Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 I always do my dumping in Jan- Mar that way I can have a fresh start each spring Spring cleaning of relationships?
riobikini Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 re: KM: " Actually, I'd be curious to see if break-ups that DO occur in places with more temperate/warm weather.." Actually there is already research work done on this ....and in Washington State, the suicide rate has been higher, they say, due to the wet/cludy/rainy weather....and doesn't it rain alot in England? Wondering.... But...there is a related kind of disorder, too, that may factor in. The pineal gland is an internally-secreting endocrine gland...it's behind the back portion of the brain....and it's linked to something called 'Seasonal Affective Disorder' (SAD).....with SAD, people go through bouts of depression during the winter months. I dunno, but I wonder about those who are in specific stages of a relationship where certain other hormones are being produced in higher-than-normal amounts, and can almost see where those already saddled with SAD might be more vulnerable to emotions during that time. -Rio

Actually, I think, there is already research work done on this ....and, I believe it mentions Washington State, where depression and the suicide rate has been higher, they say, due to the wet/cloudy/rainy weather....and , btw, doesn't it rain alot in England? Just wondering.... I dunno, but I wonder about those who are in specific stages of a relationship where certain other hormones are being produced in higher-than-normal amounts, (or decreasing or 'coming down' from the recent influence of crazy, elevated hormone production during the intial stages of romantic love or attraction or other stages) and can almost see where those already saddled with SAD might be more vulnerable to emotions during that time. Factor in, as well. the stress of the holidays during those months, and an impending 'romantic' celebration day (Valentines Day) and there may be some truth in it all somewhere. -Rio P.S. I really want the geeky guy in glasses who can figure all of that out. Badly. (Smile)
shelters Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 The deterioration of my relationship was over the winter, as well. KM, similar to your situation I pulled away first, then he did, then 'lets work on it,' then he leaves. We had the mildest winter ever here though... Since I grew up in Irvine I can say for certainty that I had break-up's in the nice weather too.
Author KittenMoon Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 We had the mildest winter ever here though... We had a really mild winter too!!! crazy.
PlentyLV007 Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I didn't plan on when to do my break ups but most of them have been in Jan.../Feb....
Shana555 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 My relationships seem to do best in the fall/winter and go sour around spring time. Hmmm...
jerbear Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Random thought came to me. I took month long vacations around winter twice in the last 3 years. Maybe that is one reason why I couldn't or wouldn't end it with the ex. She couldn't or wouldn't join me on those vacations. I avoided the problem and not know it! Get a break from each other and get back. Amazing sometimes.
batesal Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 My breakup occured at the beginning of Jan.. I also read somewhere that most breakups occur in the Fall/Winter times.
jerbear Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Batesal, I like your avatar, them bears cousins of mine? :lmao: I remember that article, I believe it was online but forgot exactly where.
batesal Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Batesal, I like your avatar, them bears cousins of mine? :lmao: I remember that article, I believe it was online but forgot exactly where. They might be. I love the picture because it is a picture of my ferret whom passed away in Feb .
jerbear Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 They might be. I love the picture because it is a picture of my ferret whom passed away in Feb . Sorry to hear about your ferret.
Mary3 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 The reason relationships end in January is avoidance of Feb 14 , Valentines Day ! If someone wants to dump you they sure don't want you around on the lovey dovey day ! I read about this most recently on MSN
MTK Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 We started separating in Feb/early March-but still had great moments together. Broke up the 9th, came back that night. We didn't see each other for a week (spring break), then she decided quites on the 19th. She started seeing another guy 2 days later.
cylai Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I live in a tropical country where it is 'summer' all year long. You heard people make and break up every month .
