Ok Since nobody posted last week I decided to start a new revised thread with everyone who is participating.

I went to the Doctors last Friday and I have lost 11 lbs since Jan. I am still hovering around 169. for the last two weeks. But my doctor has had some good suggestions to try. I just have to get off my butt. Hopefully once I shake this migraine I can get back into it full force. I wish it was coming off a little faster.

So what are your stats?

hoturl starting weight 180(Jan)

Current weight 169 (April)

Wow, 11 lbs! That's awesome Hotgurl!

Not much of a change for me. I think I'm slimming down in certain areas and gaining in others. I'm still working with the experiment of increasing my daily calorie intake from approx. 1100-1200 per day to 1500-1800 per day. I'm also paying more attention to the protein and vegetables I'm taking in and laying off the fruit a bit. I'm still running but cut back to about 4 days a week under doctor's orders. I've also added in yoga but so far only doing it once a week on my off day from the gym. I'm going to try to add in more lifting/toning exercises since I'm only doing that about 2 days a week. My range was 133.5-135 and now it's 132.5-134 so I guess I lost a pound. It only took half a year.

sometimes it seems to go so slow. I had wanted to lose 8 lbs a month.

My doctor said since I am at a plateau to ad 200 extra calories a day from fruit or veggies not fat or junk for two weeks. add weight to my walking or weight training and after two weeks go back to 1200 calories.

also she said I am not getting enough protien. I don't eat a lot of meet. So I am trying to have protien in the am and I got a protien shake to try.

I usually avoid all the stuff but it is supposed to be all natural no perservatives and has all my daily vitamins.

They are screwing with my hormones so it might be a little harder for the next three months because sometimes I gain weight when they mess with my meds.

I don't eat meat or dairy so I have difficulty with protein too. There is a lot of protein in Lentils so I've been eating more of those. I also started eating cereal in the morning because I found a good all natural Hi-Protein cereal. Started eating more nuts and peanut butter (all natural, no sugar). I eat tons of soy for protein but even that's not good with you, especially since soy can be an endocrine blocker. I'm going to be starting on new meds next week and will probably gain weight from it so I may be off the Wednesday weight loss thread for good. :(

Adding the calories is supposed to jump start your metabolism. I've been doing it for about 3 weeks now so it's probably time to go back to eating 1200 calories a day. It was really nice to get that apple in the afternoon. Oh well.

well If you go then it'll just be me on my own. Everybody else seemed to drop out.

I try to do no sugar when I can. I esp love the organic almond butter. It just ground up almonds. And I get 100% fruit jelly & juice and try to stay away from baked good.

I absolutely refuse to use any artifical sweetens or fake food like egg beaters and I limit as much as I can processed food.

I eat a lot of raw veggies and fruit and I really need to start baking my own bread without wheat but I have been too lazy so far.

How do you eat your lentils?

Almond butter in moderation is excellent for you! This is all assuming that the organic kind you use doesn't add sugar, etc. which it sounds like it doesn't. It sounds like you're doing all of the right things HG as far as food is concerned. Maybe you just need to increase your exercise, I think that's something you said you wanted to work on already.

Luckily I have a lot of all natural healthy foods available to me like whole wheat bread. I already have so many limitations on my diet, I don't think I could give up whole wheat. The one thing I will admit that I am terrible about is watching my salt intake.

I eat my lentils with Smart Chickn' Strips. I love those things. Often times I'll throw in long grain slow cooked brown rice...assuming I don't burn it.

I'm confused. Why would you add calories to help you lose weight? Seems counter intuative.

I'm hovering around 141, which is down about 6-7 lbs from earlier this year. I messed up today. I was pissed off and hungry, so I went to Burger King for lunch. Sounds like a very light dinner for me! I did go to the gym though and burned off 600 of those 1310 calories, and I'm going dancing tonight. I also went to a send off reception for one of the secretaries here and snacked on finger sandwhiches, fruit and cheeses. To my credit, I skipped the cake. Sigh. I wish I had more will power.

Maybe if you bring your lunch in with you won't want to eat Burger King or other foods that aren't good for you.

You increase your calories to jump start your metabolism. Gets it to start working a little harder.

Yeah, I need to go to the grocery. Today I wasn't here, and running behind do to my friend morphing into a bridezilla, and I missed lunch. I'll make a trip to the grocery as soon as I leave this place though.

Yeah, the calorie thing does make sense, do you have to also up your physical exertion by a comprable amount of calories?

You know I don't really know because it's near impossible for me to exercise even more than I already do. I should know that though. I exercise for probably 1-2 hrs a day 5-6 days a week and I'm stuck behind this computer for 10 hours a day. I don't think I could possibly exercise much more.

I checked out my average calories over the past few weeks and it's less than I thought. I'm only averaging around 1475 calories per day and my basal is 1400 so I should have been eating more. Regardless, I'm going to have to start cutting back again since I was averaging over my basal for a few weeks and I'll be starting a new medicine.

I am eating around 1475 calories per day and it say my basial is 1565 and activities/ lifestyle are 790.

So on the charts I am burning more than I am taking in. So shoyuldn't I be losing more weight?

kitten chick

Theoretically I would say yes but there are other factors besides calories, just the numbers. First and most important, the calorie numbers that they give you, the number that you burn, is based on an average healthy individual. It does not take into account medical problems which you and I both have that make it more difficult to lose weight. It also does not take into account your own personal metabolism. We just don't all have the same metabolism. There is someone out there with your same exact statistics that burns off far more than you do, they can eat whatever they want and not gain an ounce.

The other thing is your exercise. If I recall (and correct me if I'm wrong) you're exercise is walking, which is great, but there's no muscle building exercise in that. You need muscle to burn fat. I would suggest adding in weights to your exercise routine to help you burn faster.

I will do that I got an exercise ball with the tensions bands and a tape to do in the evening. I just have to get around the hump of coming home making dinner right away because then it's all over for me. I have to do it first thing when I walk through the door or else I won't.

And my BF isn't helping he wants to talk etc.. which I love but it prevents me from getting my second work out in. He doesn't need to exercise more he is 5'6" and 125 lbs.

Don't you hate hormones. :)

Yeah, and sometimes more than life itself.

The exercise ball and tension bands are good. I would also suggest picking up a pair of light weights 5-10 lbs, which aren't very expensive and add in some squats, lunges, bicep curls, chest flys, bridges and some back and shoulder exercises. And don't forget to get those abs in. It's a cheap way to get a good workout, you can do that at home or at the gym 2-3 times a week along with your cardio and it will help a lot.
