As an asian male I know that most ethnic groups (even other asians) consider me a second or third class choice for dating. Now as it turns out I was too optimistic. According to their scientific study, as I gather, they chose multiple pictures of different male ethnic groups and then had them rated by independent people for attractiveness. They then posted these pictures on an online dating site and compiled response by women. The bottom line was that most white women preferred the white guys (not surprising), followed my hispanics, blacks, and then asians. What I found shocking was that income could make up for racial preferences. I do not have the exact figures stated on the show, but it went something like this. Compared to a white guy that a woman would choose, an equally attractive hispanic guy would also get a hit (from white women) if he made something on the order of 25K MORE than the white guys the women found acceptable. A black guy would get a hit if he made something like 100K per year more. An asian guy would only get picked if he made $240K MORE per year than the white guy. Over a 30 year career that totals over 7 million dollars in income MORE than a white guy. All I can say is thank goodness I have never been attracted to white women or I would need to be a multi-millionaire to get any dates.

aleatoryd Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Well I live in Birmingham, United Kingdom which is Britiains second largest city after London. Both of those places are cultural hubs and I know tons of Asian's who have no problem getting girlfriends. I think it is less a factor about ethnicity of the girl and more where you grow up and who you associate with. If you live in a particular ethnic area then that will affect your changes of having a mixed race relationship. Birmingham does have some predominately "minority areas" such as a Chinese/Oriental quarter, Irish quarter, Asian quarter, Black quarter, Student quarter. (That's quite a few quarters!) And there aren't many areas that are "purely white". I'd say the statistic while interesting has little relevance in the outside world. As always it is who you know and not what you know or earn that largely factors into relationships.
battleworn Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Hmmm... don't know if I agree. Well at least not in Canada. I've been quite actively online dating this past year. Seem to have no problem attracting women of all races _except_ Asian. For some reason Asian women don't seem to want date Asian men. I'll 2nd the comment that it's 85%-90% confidence. If you act confident things happen, and it makes you even more confident.

I'm asian and last few women that I've attracted and been attracted to were mixed, white, and 1 traditional chinese girl. I would say confidence is key, it also does not hurt to have a PhD and $7 M in the bank.

Are you talking about just mongoloids (people with slit eyes)??? Are you including Indians? My take is you're not including Indians cause indians do pretty good with the chicks of all races... But yes, I would agree that most women are not attracted to slit-eyed men, everything else being equal. At least in western society.

Hey I did not make this stuff up, I am only relating the findings of this show. Perhaps my preference for other Asians lies in the fact that early in my dating life I basically had multiple rejections from white girls. I simple adjusted my preferences to the most successful choice. Believe me if I had attractive white girls after me, I think I could adjust my preferences again.
