shelters Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I officially hate text messages. 90% of them used to be from my ex-bf so now when I get the occasional one from a friend my body physically reacts as if it is from him... then my mind steps in... then my body reacts again with my stomach dropping to my feet. Hate it.
Big_A Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 I have the same issue. My ex and I sent a lot of messages to each other. It has only been a week, but she has texted me a couple of times, I only responded once. After she said she was going to be back to try and work things out she sent me a text message saying she wasn't coming. I haven’t heard from her since.
TeaCooler Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 change the ringtonem(or alert sound) for your texts. (and sorry. i do know that feeling.)
Author shelters Posted April 18, 2006 Author Posted April 18, 2006 I prefer my phone on the Vibe setting though. Bah! That's it! Off to the store for a new phone, dammit! (kidding)
Ja5e Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Know exactly what you mean. Although I seem to have an ability to know who the txt is from before I even look to see who it is from! Know what you mean about the stomach. Its a strange modern phenomena , unless you can block the txt from that person , its like leaving a gateway open directly from them to you.
Chinook Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I got rid of my phone Got myself a calling card. In emergencies, I dial the number on it, and any number I need (i.e. my Dad) is accessible. It has credit on it which is tied to my landline phonebill. It's great! Of course my friends b!tch that they can't get a hold of me... but... HELLO! THAT's the point!
Author shelters Posted April 18, 2006 Author Posted April 18, 2006 He won't be texting me so there is no need to block his number. I've already put my boundary out there for NC and he will respect that. It took me three weeks to put that boundary out there b/c I knew that once I did he would no longer send the occasional email/text. Fack. There's that lump in my throat... I look forward to the day when I get a text and my first auto thought isn't of him.

Chinook Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Indeed it is! You would not believe how much less stressful my life is... no guilt at not replying right away to text messages, no worry about whether the microwave radiation is going to kick off another tumour... aww hell, best thing I ever did! People who want me..? They call the house, or work, or Mom's
Apathetic Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Wow..I compeltly relate!..My EX used to send me texts every single night saying sweet/love dovey things,so when my phone goes off from an occasional text from my friend I immeditatly get that 'happy/excited' feeling I got when he texted me.. Im still in contact with him & still recieve texts, but not like how they used to be
kitten chick Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 I clicked on this thread because somehow when I read the title I thought it was a rant about Texas
Author shelters Posted April 19, 2006 Author Posted April 19, 2006 I clicked on this thread because somehow when I read the title I thought it was a rant about Texas Ha! I've only been there a handful of times but it is tooo hot for me.
Chinook Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Would that be Texas the band..? Like that's music which relates to your ex right..? (just kidding!)
StussyMagnet Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I hate texts too. We used to send each loads other texts all the time too (I had to get a new contract with 800 free text a month!). I first knew something was up when they started arriving without the kisses and smileys at the end. Lo and behold 4 days later and it's all over. On the subjet of mobile phones, I know it's obvious but as soon as we split up I deleted all her numbers/details from my phone and threw out all my itemised phone bills. I now have no idea of her number and have no way of contacting her. It certainly helps with the NC. If I get an urge to contact her, I write a text and leave it in my drafts folder. Usually about an hour later, I have another look at it and simultaneously kick myself for wanting to send her a text and congratulate myself for not being able to do it!
