Why isn't the amount of time they obviously spend on themselves a turn off, vis-a-vis the high vanity factor, or the mere artificiality of appearance a turn off?

Also, why do guys prefer these sort of "robo-blondes" to well groomed, classically beautiful women who have real hobbies and interests? Can't multi-dimensional women be sexy or something?

I mean real hobbies too, not drinking and making DIY porn.

I'm finding myself in the queue for attractive men behind these Stepford- style porn queens more and more. They get the diamond ring and I'm thinking that I should've been a promotional model or an Indy car girl rather than going to college and grad. school.

Our sense of attractive people is misguided by Hollywood. There is such a push to get the best looking person you can that it has overrun our other standards of humanity. I agree that chemistry is important between two people but many people throw that chemistry away if they are not up to the physical standards you think you want. You've described my ideal woman. I prefer a brunette, not too much makeup, decent but not supermodel body, and someone with lots of interests. If a woman looks too "made up" (i.e. hair, makeup, clothes, etc) the first thing that runs through my mind is, "does this mean I'll be waiting 2 hours while she gets ready for us to go out one day?"

It's safe. 13 year old Jay's friends aren't going to come round and say "Oh Gross man...you've got a picture of that brassy porn woman on your wall. Why can't you show a bit of taste, dude, and put up a picture of Audrey Hepburn or someone a bit more elegant looking?"

Pamela Anderson is not hot at all to me. I love real women and am turned off by fake women myself. My fiance wears very little makeup, has had no boob jobs or plastic surgery and still looks better than Paris Hilton and her types could hope to look. She also is extremely smart and is an all around interesting person. Real men love women like her. Just continue to be yourself and sooner or later you will find a man who appreciates that. Just think of it as a way of weeding out the jerks.

I have to agree with all of those that are on the side of "men look for real women". Nearly every man i've ever had a relationship has always preferred me without makeup. Just last night I had this discussion with the guy I'm seeing now. he said that while I look more professional with it on, i look cuter with it off and that he prefers it off. It's interesting cuz i think i look gross with it off LOL

 

It's definitely nice to find the men the like the you they see when they wake up, not the one you need to spend time "applying". Oh and for the record, I'm blonde. My boobs are real "and they're fantastic".

I am a gal that wears very little makeup (mascara and lipstick) and I find that men tell me it's refreshing to see such natural beauty. Especially here in California.

 

I also haven't done any of the plastic surgery stuff that most men and women do around here.

 

I definitely feel that a persons beauty is based on a very core level in their attitude and the love of one's self and appreciation for individuality...

Actually its alot simpler than you think.

 

Women like tall, successful, handsome men. Why? Well if we follow evolution and look back to when we were in such small tribes that survival was key, finding the best partner was a necessity right? So here's what I believe (and many others do as well). Physical appearance and social status played a HUGE role in survival back then (if you were weak you would get beaten on by the strong and would not survive, if you weren't close to the tribal leader you wouldn't be moving up the ladder becoming more successful and ensuring better chances of survival, etc), and its been HARDWIRED into our brain. The traits you listed specifically I believe are as follows:

 

Tall: Generally people corrolate height with dominance. When someone is looking down on you, you are going to be much more respectful than when dealing with a midget. There are a host of other reasons as well too, generally taller people aren't the most fragile. But dominance over others and having respect from a physical appearance automatically shoots most men up in womens books because it communicates that this person may have a better chance of protecting and caring for them than a weaker man (I say may because the guy could be a weakling when she gets to know him).

 

successful: Being successful ensures a better future, which in turn ensures a better chance of survival. The Two key's two life are survival (and though Mystery says replication I disagree. I think Life's two main goals are Survival and Pleasure, whereas he believes its Survival and replication, the common thread they have is that Survival is key in either philosophy). and replication/pleasure/whatever you want to believe, either way you must survive to accomplish anything on this planet. Success means that you will live safer and more comfortably raising YOUR chances for survival, and your offsprings.

 

Handsome: A social perk. Handsome people are more respected because people like their physical appearance. That's automatic social proof, demonstrating you have some type of value in society's eyes. The more value you have, the higher chance you have of surviving because of the respect and power that comes along with higher social value. When you have respect and power, you have more options to work with and better ways to become successful and ensure your offsprings survival and your survival.

 

In all ways I believe that everything that people are attracted to fits somehow into surviving or ensuring your survival in the future.

But personally, why would I date a less asthetically pleasing women if I could date a hotter woman? The fake tits/ plastic surgery thing isn't all that bad, but it doesn't matter how hot a woman is, if she wants to have more than sex with me she needs to be bringing more than just good looks to the table. Some of your assumptions are wrong Hyakka. The tinnest girls I ever knew did nothing to stay that way. They didn't play sport or have hobbies - they read Cosmo and lived on soup. They could also be the most vacuous, selfish, self-absorbed people on earth but because they were what was considered attractive, guys would overlook their personality - even attribute to them qualities that they didn't have.

 

One girl I knew defrauded taxpayers of thousands of dollars in free flights (her dad was a politician) to go shopping in other cities and would then fly back through the nation's capital to make it look legit.
