i am a 39 yr old female, i started a relationship with a 53 yr old man since about 5 months now, of course in the beginning it was exciting, and getting to know each other and things like that. i fell in love with him, he fell in love with me. but something changed three and a half months into the relationship. he started to distance himself from me, i asked him why was he doing this and he says he just wanted to be by himself sometimes this was at the end of february it is now april. he did "attempt" to spend the night, but i still felt like he didnt want to be near me, i asked him if there was someone else, he says no. i asked him "did i do something?" he says no. last weekend he invited me over his place to watch a movie, he moved himself to a single seat chair, again the distance. i am feeling really hurt by all this distance, its almost like he cant stand to be with me anymore. i tell him this also, but he still says the same thing. i dont know what to do, i do love him very much.

what should i do?

I think you need to lay your feelings on the line...tell him what you're thinking. If he won't talk, there isn't a whole lot you can do except decide if you can handle the "new" him.

Seems he doesn't have the balls to break up with you, so he's being abit of an a**h***. The distance thing, less time being spent together, less sex and ofcourse sitting in a chair far from you. That isn't cool.

So, you have three choices here. 1) Lay it all out for him, tell him how you feel and let him know that if he isn't into this relationship anymore, then it's time to break-up. 2) Just stop calling him and give him space. Let him contact you more and make the arrangements to get together. Live your life, go have fun, be with your friends and just focus on him less. See what happens and how he reacts to that. OR 3) He is scared of what he's feeling and isn't sure of anything right now.

Either way, you have to talk to him. Not knowing wtf is going on is worse than knowing. By finding out what is going on inside his head, atleast you'll know what to do and how to deal with things. Not knowing will drive you nuts.
