Wondergirl Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I started a new job in the new year and within a week a guy who sat only metres from my desk asked me out. We went out a few times and it started feeling serious after only 3 dates. Unfortunately his boss made it clear that he wasnt happy with the idea and warned him it could jeopardise his chances of a promotion so we stopped seeing each other but said we would continue being friends. Initially I was a bit annoyed cos he knew his boss's attitude before our first date yet he still persisted so i felt like i had been taken for a ride. The first few weeks were a bit awkward but I would still smile and say hi. He would recipricate but he would never initiate any contact. It is 3 months on and he is still awkward even though I am friendly. I dont understand since we only went on 3 dates, it wasnt like a long term relationship. We have lots of work social functions and he will talk in a group but when it comes to talking just with me, he seems awkward and he gets this really serious tone in his voice which in turn makes me feel awkward and like a real lose for attempting contact. He never flirts with me or initiates any communication with me yet he seems awkward if I start up a conversation? It is really annoying me as I have to see him every day and most weeks there is a social function at work. Does any one have any ideas why he is acting like he is?
BlahBlahQueen Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Assuming you slept with him on one of those dates, he's probably not interested anymore and feels guilty and awkward since he has to interact with you at work. Sorry.
Author Wondergirl Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 Interesting you say that....he said he wanted to wait and we didnt sleep together but he stayed at mine and I stayed at his and we did other things.
MadDog Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 He's probably extra paranoid because of your boss catching on & making a big deal about it. He's overcompensating & giving you the cold shoulder so no one will think anything is going on at this point. That blows though. If you can't date people you meet at work & you aren't in school, just who are you supposed to date?
