bab Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Correction: SOME men. The majority of guys I know who like cars, just like the cars. That's the one thing that has little to do with women. My ex never liked my Porsche, but I love it. I LOVE it. I wouldn't define it as either very nice or very fast, but I just really like the workmanship. It feels good to drive it. To corner in it. I love the sound the motor makes. I put down the windows in covered parking areas so I can really hear it. Fast maneuvers always made her feel sick. What a dilemma that was for me. I am a generalist: I have a sports car, an econobox car, and a 4x4 truck. But they don't define me. I chose them. I agree. My fiance is crazy about cars, but it has nothing to do with women. He just LOVES cars. Sure he likes expensive cars, but that's because expensive cars are usually nicer. Although he hates SUV's, and they can get right pricey. The car he spends the most time on is an '81 Scirocco. Not exactly a babe magnet, let me tell you, but he loves it.
Author riobikini Posted April 11, 2006 Author Posted April 11, 2006 Thank you all for your answers...they were actually for a young person I know whose parents just went through a divorce...the dad just bought himself a hot car and just purchased the kid his first car -a used one- which he resents ,for now, in light of his dad's shiny new one...but, in a few weeks, I'm sure they will both be feeling just fine about it...kid is ready to impress his gf...divorced dad is ready to impress new prospects, as well... Ex-wife is still driving the SUV. -Rio
Pyro Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 I am not a materialistic person. Therefore, I really don't care about having to get a certain type of car just to impress. All that i ask for is a car that runs and has a sunroof and I am good to go. I went to this bar last summer and I see all these clowns driving up in these expensive car. It was nothing more than a show off contest to see who wasted the most money on a car. Its pretty pathetic. i do not judge anyone based on what they drive.
Slapshot2286 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Frankly, I drive a good looking fast car because I like having a good looking fast car. I don't care what women think about it. I drive my jeep half the time. All I care about in a car is that it can take me somewhere fast.
MadDog Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 That's funny. I've always defined myself by the size of my johnson. . .
MadDog Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 All I care about in a car is that it can take me somewhere fast. But you can be driving in a Hyundai or Viper, the speed limit is still the same.
RecordProducer Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Why do men define themselves by the kind of car they choose? Do you think it has anything to do with a sexual reference? Do you think women do this as much as men? What's the difference between the way the genders look at it? Just asking. -Rio My hubby drives an SL500 and that's exactly a car that describes his personality - sporty, efficient, reliable, powerful, and sexy. My Cadillac catera also describes well my character - elegant on the outside, but wild on the ride!
alphamale Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 My hubby drives an SL500 and that's exactly a car that describes his personality - sporty, efficient, reliable, powerful, and sexy. um...in the last decade or so the mercedes models are going down in reliability....some of their models even have below average reliability now.
Vertex Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I am like my OS. Works great at first, but slowly seems to lose functionality over time. Damn you M$
Sand&Water Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 um...in the last decade or so the mercedes models are going down in reliability....some of their models even have below average reliability now. I figured. Years ago, they were one of the top luxury cars on the market. Now, I just think they're a cross between a honda and lexus. Mercedes and BMWs are for average people now
jerbear Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 My car has a NAV built-in. Ex didn't like it and I told her it was not for her but for me to NOT get lost. I mainly bought it for its safety features, AWD, DSC, ABS, airbags all over the place, etc... having an SUV was better than the sedan as I want kids, 4 years later still unmarried and no kids. It gets me from point A to point B and it has an higher efficiency as my old car but bigger and better. The mpg was higher, maintaince costs lower, just better. The old car just wasn't safe after 6 years, lost control in the snow, plus something / someone hit it.
RecordProducer Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 um...in the last decade or so the mercedes models are going down in reliability...Just like him! Just kidding, just kidding... My car has a NAV built-in I absolutely love my GPS device. It doesn't help me to NOT get lost - it just helps me get back on the right road WHEN I get lost!
SuperMonk Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 In some cases yes, I would more pay attention to how he keeps his car. If it's always constantly clean/shiny - he is one of those perfectionist freaks. If he does it once in awhile - he's a keeper. Like me. If he doesn't clean it at all, he doesn't care much about his appearance or health that much.
djrdei Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Proud owner of a 05 GMC Sierra I am a total car nut, I have always been into cars. I am so proud that I was able to get the truck of my dreams last summer, its an awesome ride. I love the outdoors and the truck makes it so easy to haul my ATV or tools. I take the best of care of my truck, and my parents cars. I am one of thoes people who keep it clean (or try to) all the time. I feel that if you spend over 35K for a car, it should be kept clean. I really dont know if girls pay attention to cars or not. I know i had a few girls tell me I have a nice truck, and at first they are suprised it is mine. One time this girl was talking to me and she said she just totaled her caviler, and then she asked if she could take my truck for a ride, i was like hell no...lol...not my baby. Chances are if im single all summer the truck will not be dirty at all. Cleaning our cars is relaxing to me and it will take my mind off of being single.

Had a crack and looked "ghetto". Having a vanity plate on it makes it worse.
Art_Critic Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I think this is BS. I agree... I have my car cleaned when it needs to be ( work or dates ).. But both of houses are kept in immaculate condition and spit shined and I care about my health and appearance Other than that there is no way I'll spend any more money that the purchase price on a piece of metal that is worth less tommorrow than it is worth today..
ratzskinakie Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I have to deal with the car my parents let me use, and I don't mind it, but my dad does wierd crap to it that I don't like (like tinting windows, adding a big spoiler, and sticking stupid stickers all over inside the car), and those things emberess me more than the car

RecordProducer Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I feel that if you spend over 35K for a car, it should be kept clean. I would prefer a guy in a dirty Lotus to a guy in a clean old Chevy! My car is clean on the outside, but the inside... I don't even want to look at the backseat - those little boogers don't take me seriously when I tell them that they are not allowed to drink and eat in my car. There are potato chip crumbs in every crack and hole!
alphamale Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I would prefer a guy in a dirty Lotus to a guy in a clean old Chevy! What if the clean old chevy is a convertible Corvette with 400+ horsepower?
RecordProducer Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 What if the clean old chevy is a convertible Corvette with 400+ horsepower? Corvettes are kewl. What do you drive, Alpha?
djrdei Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Corvettes are kewl. What do you drive, Alpha? You are my kinda girl, Im getin our 1993 Corvette out this weekend.
RecordProducer Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 You are my kinda girl, Im getin our 1993 Corvette out this weekend. Our? as in mine and yours? Today I saw some redneck in a white corvette playing some hard rock music (btw, I as a music maker love all genres of music). I instantly remembered Alpha and was thinking: it really depends on the guy, not on his carigno.
HokeyReligions Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Uh huh. And how many of you guys will drive a mini-van? What do you think about guys who drive mini-vans?
