generally i suck at maintaining good social networks and perhaps even friends for that matter.

But there are indeed several people in my phonebook that i havent spoken to in a year or two. people i used to hang out with (known from my previous college), and a couple of colleagues/co-workers....yes these people include 1 or 2 females.

my social life has been hell lately. But i guess the reason for my call isnt to make quick friends to improve the social life. i just want to see how they're doing..do some catching up..and maintain a social network.

altho sometimes it can be weird or eerie to have someone call you up for no apparent reason to see how you're doing, i know the feeling...especially when you want nothing to do with them.

any thoughts or suggestions?

I have old college friends that I sometimes don't speak to for YEARS. But then I'll get an email or a phone call and we spend a few hours catching up.

It's not weird at all! I think everyone wonders from time to time how old friends are doing. I always enjoy the 'catch-up' phone calls and it makes me feel good to know people are thinking of me!

Go ahead and contact them. I'm sure they'll love to hear from you!

Only if Westernexer isn't one of your 'long, lost' friends. He's not too keen on those kind of calls. :p

It would make me feel really cared about if someone I hadn't talked to in years thought about me enough to pick up the phone to call and ask.

Who knows, you may hit it off with one of them and become really good friends again!

yes some would some wouldnt...i just tried saying hi to one of them online, no response...we even got together with several friends last summer too. oh well.

perhaps this attempt is less successful on the pessimistic/anti-social type of people.

ill try again with some other people
