I recently learned that a guy I have a friend in common with had a crush on me for years but never did anything about it. Instead, he dated other girls and is now married with kids. He saw me at a wedding recently and told a third party about how he had had long standing feelings for me.

He has never told me though and I was clueless until someone leaked the goss.

Why do guys not pursue their crush? Why can they comfortably date some girls and marry them but not others?

Perhaps he thought you were out of his league? Or perhaps he felt he was in the friends zone and it would never happen?

I was told that I didn't get approached by a lot of men because I was confident and pretty and that they simply didn't want the knock back?!!

Maybe he didn't want to get hurt, and dating people he doesn't really like is "safer". Maybe he realized it was just a crush and nothing more, maybe he was looking for someone to marry and they were other things at stake (income, stability, age, desire to have/don't have kids). Maybe he changed his mind.
