Dadubwa Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Okay I'm fairly young...grew up in a fat family =...fat me haha... Anyways...for the good part of my life I've been a tomboy...it becomes frustrating getting mistaken for a guy all the time, and being stared at by young kids. I was never so thrill with my weight until I became invovled with my current girlfriend (YES, I'm a lesbian..and that could also be the cause to all the eyes on me)...My girlfriend is about 120 pouds...I'm double that...perfectly...240...she is beautiful...I'm okay I suppose. The point is I'm sick of people looking at us like we're this "out of this world" "odd" couple. My girlfriend has spent her whole life skinny, and I've spent my whole life big. I don't think she realizes how much I struggle with my image. So I've decided I'm taking my shaved head, and I'm growing my hair out...I'm taking my big body, and slimming it down. The problem is...the other night when I went to get into the shower...I noticed my not-so-new stretch marks...and was pretty much weeping at the fact that I let myself go like this. I got over it. But last night when I went to get into the shower I realized one of my stretch marks under my stomach...looked like it at busted open or something! It didn't hurt all to much but it stung a little and almost felt like it itched and burned...it was very small..about the size of a pea. But I'm really concerned what this is...I really have no clue as to what this thing is and it's really freaking me out...if anyone has any idea please comment!
blind_otter Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 It could just be abite or a sore, so if you are really worried you could see a dermatologist. AFAIK, there are no really good remedies for stretch marks. My sisters have them from pregnancies. You could call your doctor's office and ask, they will almost always give you info over the phone without paying for a visit (unless it's a s***tydoctor)
brashgal Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 As far as what sounds like a sore, if it does not clear in a couple days, see the doctor. For now, try some antibiotic cream. Once you have lost the weight (if you do decide to do so), you may opt for a tummy tuck - when they remove the loose skin it is often the skin with the stretchmarks. They are also doing work with lasers now that somehow stimulates the collagen under the skin which helps grow connective tissue (kind of mending the stretch mark). I don't know that they disappear completely but I would expect it would be an improvement. All this surgical stuff costs money though. Here's hoping you make peace with your body, it's not an easy thing to do for a lot of us.
