Just took my daughter to the dr again yesterday and she has a viral thing going on along with pharangitis and her vulvaginitis . I took her to the dr about 2wks ago and she had strep throat and a full blown yeast infection. She is on allergy meds Zyrtec,Singular and Naxenex . I give her vitamins every day and still she stays sick. I had allergy shots when i was a baby till i was 12 . I had suggested her having allergy shots and the dr said it wasn't necessary . My question is will she stay sick and have a low immune system while she is in school ? She never was sick like this till she started kindergarten . She is in the first grade now and still gets sick often . She hardly eats meats and will eat vegetables . Should i start her eating meats so she can get the protein she needs? Could her body be lacking by not eating meats? She will not eat meats because she is a animal lover. They weighed her and she weighs now 44pds. I take her to the dr constantly for something she has gotten from school. She picks up all the sickness that comes to the class. Wondering if there was a way to build her immune system up? Now with allergy season how will it be ?

I think you should schedule an appointment with a nutritionist. My sister did that with her son when he was very young. It turned out his tummy troubles were from Celiac disease, a genetic condition. SHe would never have known if not for the nutritionist.

Her body may be producing excessive mucosal secretions due to a systemic allergic response to one or more allergens. Modifying her diet can decrease the muscosal secretions -- which are a lovely breeding ground for bacteria and fugi all over the place in the human body.

Thanks Blind i will look into that as well.:D I was reading on the side effects with these meds that they can cause ear infections ,flu ,upper respiratory infections etc... So maybe this plays a part in it as well. I was talking with the pharmacist and he told me that taking the nose spray was bringing it germs into the nose. I asked him why perscribe it and he said cause it helps with the allergies. Makes no sense.

i have only one bit of advice for you...lysol. disinfect, disinfect and disinfect some more. children are the most germy little creatures i know. and once she's in school, it's bound to happen that she is exposed to all those germs. i spray my kids stuff (bookbags, take home folders, etc) about once a month during flu season. doorknobs and lightswitches too. it smells disgusting, but it's good to know the germs are gone.

parents who have no option but to send their kids in sick will expose so many others to that illness. it's not fair but it just seems to be the way things are.

Yeah i know and firmly believe in using Lysol. I DISINFECT all !! Phones keyboard ,mouse doorknobs beds, furniture ,handle on refrigerator, cabinets bathroom ,sinks . Did i miss anything? lol:lmao: I have to stay on my 15 yr old to wash hands more than my daughter. I also carry hand sanitizer in my purse.

okay, well you've been at this mommy thing longer than i have. oops..sorry. now i know who to give a shout out to when i need advice :bunny:

Seems like both of my kids were sick almost constantly until they were about 3 years old - being in daycare and exposed to other kids' germs it was inevitable. After they hit about 3 though, the illnesses practically stopped. I think it just takes awhile to build that immunity.

holy shyt

How did we survive as kids without lysol and hand sanitizer?

Antibiotics tossed at even a nose sniffle.....

I think it is because she wasn't in daycare . My daughter wasn't exposed to daycare ever i am a stay at home mom.

No don't be sorry you was giving advice. By the way he is my ss and raised him since he was 2 . I don't claim to know all when it comes to be a parent and love to get advice from anyone that can give me some advice !!;) No matter how long you have been a parent you can always learn from another parent.

a thought: does your little one eat yogurt? My sister swore by it when her boys were little, and even my mom (a severe diabetic) used to say that it helped build up her health system by heading bladder and yeast infections off at the pass. I know the live active-culture yogurt drinks are supposed to be really good, though I would much rather eat the stuff than drink it :p

walmart here in town had carried a stuff shipped from Mexico called "BioSalud" that was a live-cultured yogurty drink that had a pineapple juice taste. My husband called them his pill chasers or his Mexican shooters because he'd take his meds with them. They were pretty good stuff, and cheap cheap cheap. Unfortunately, the stores here don't carry it anymore, but we have seen the yogurt drinks stocked.

my daughter was really sick the first year she was in daycare. Then she built up an immunity to things. You might just have to wait it out.

Yeah she eats yogurt all the time when she wants a snack so don't understand why she is keeping this. The dr perscribed this nystatin powder since the cream keeps getting on her panties. So far it is doing the trick so hope so keeps working.

Does your daughter take baths? Has your doctor said anything to you about maybe getting her to try showers instead? My daughters doc told me once before it was best for little girls to take showers if they can because even if you don't use bubble bath that could irritate that area, the water itself that you sit in, has bacteria floating around, from the dirty water, that can enter the vagina that way and can possibly cause a UTI or yeast infection. Just a thought.

Try having her take a shower for a while. Just as a change. I'm not saying the bath is the culprit, but sometimes it can be.

I'm not saying she doesn't ... But get her used to washing her hands alot throughout the day. When she gets home from school, or even just being outside playing - Get her to wash her hands. If she rubs her eyes and nose, or even puts her fingers in her mouth, that could be how she is getting sick alot. It's as easy as sharing a toy, one kid has a cold, sneezes and then she picks up that toy then rubs her eyes - BOOM, a cold.

Does she drink alot of water? Water is good and also, add in a daily vitamin if she isn't big on fruit and veggies.

Yes she washes her hands everytime she does that she is a finatic about being dirty . She gets something on her clothes such as water she changes . She uses my hand sanitizer in the car and she constantly washes her hands . She loves water and drinks it all the time like her mommy . She loves fruits and veggies and eats them all the time . She just don't care for meat too much cause she thinks of animals when she eats it. She takes a vitamin everyday . I am at a loss when she does all these things .

Well I'm not going to touch the yeast infection thing with a ten foot pole, cuz not sure on that whole thing. However I have heard of people getting sick or staying sick and not knowing the cause until after much money and time has gone by.

A buddy of mines son had struggled with allergy problems and viruses for quite sometime, and it seemed he was sick alot. He took meds for allergies seemed to eat right and did all the right things etc. Come to find out, it was 2 things were causing the childs problem. One was the fact they had dogs/cats in the house, and all the pet hair and pet dander was causing the boys allergies/sinues to act up, reguardless of what he was taking. Those are 2 of the worse animlas to have esepcailly if they are indoors when someone has bad allergies. Birds are as well.

The other thing was they had hidden mold/mildew in their home. I'm not talking about mold or mildew or dust you could see really, but hidden. Such as in the vents where the heating/air system wasn't working well. Things get trapped like moisture in the vents in the walls or under the house or certain homes etc causing mold and mildew. I saw a documentary not long ago on people who stayed sick and couldn't find the underlying cause until they had someone (a professional) come out and look to see what was going on. Theres a lot of peope, who stay sick due to this very thing. Perhaps this is a contributing factor to her sickness?

Yes we have a cat and a dog but we had them before and she was never sick before . She started being sick once she started going to school. We have always had animals and never bothered her before. I think she has to build up her immunity from not ever being in day care. Most time when kids are in daycare they stay sick and once they go to school not sick as much. She has another little girl that didn't go to daycare as well and she is sick alot too. Most the kids in there were in day care . I was told this from the dr . She plays with kids in the neighborhood but wasn't around alot of kids all the time. Parents send the kids to school sick could be the cause as well. They aren't suppose to come to school till they are 24 hrs fever free . Most parents send them anyway.

There has to be an allergy or some reason why she is getting sick so much and has a yeast infection. Maybe (is it possible) she isn't wiping properly when she poops? Doesn't always do the front to back wipe? I don't know.

Keep going to the DR until this gets solved. Get all the blood tests done, just to be safe and make sure that all is OK.

She is doing much better with her yeast infection with the powder the dr perscribe stays on better than the cream . She was wiping wrong cause i watched her and explained to her that will bring in bacteria so we will see. I will keep it monitored as well. Having to cut sweets out for her since yeast loves sugar.

My 4 year old and 7 year old nieces both have baby wipes they use in the bathroom after a poop. They use regular TP but afterwards they give it one good last wipe with the babywipes.

The older one wiped the wrong way by accident and we just popped her right away into the bathtub and then she put cream down there afterwards.

Keep watching your daughter, and don't be afraid to remind her the 'right' way of wiping. Many kids do this, but learn NOT to because of the ouchy they feel down there.

Yeah definitely will be monitoring since i know how she wi[es . She knows front to back but i think they get in a hurry and want to rush. She is real sensitive down there and has been since she was a baby. Diapers irritated her from birth and has always had to use nystatin cream. Yeah use the big kids wipes unscented.

Actually this is funny, my youngest niece said to me last weekend, "Can you get some baby wipes? Mommy has some at our house." I asked her why and she said, "Because sometimes the toilet paper sticks in my bum!" I laughed so hard when she said that, which ofcourse, got her laughing too!

Ahh, kids. They're so great - Especially when they go home at night! That's the wonderful thing about being an Auntie! Though I love 'em both so much!
