violet_21 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 My boyfriend of 4 years has developed the habit of not looking me in the eyes often while hes talking to me. I am really offended by this, and hurt and not understanding why.. He even asks me questions, while looking at the floor, or the wall, or over my shoulder, or at a magazine, and doesn't even look at my face to see my reaction or anything!! Its so frustrating I feel like I am not even talking to him.. like he is not even there mentally! Does anyone else know why this could be happening. Do you think it could be stress, he is under quite a bit right now. I am really sad tho, because I like looking at him, and his eyes, and I am SO hurt by this. Please anyone, help?
Praetorian Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Clearly a women's side of things! Violet, that doesn't necessarily mean that there's lack of love on his side. Sometimes i did that with my ex. Just talk to him and tell him how you feel when he behaves like that, he will understand. We men are naturally distracted... Oh! And, as possible don't fall in monotony. I don't know if that's you're case or not, but it was one of the reasons i behave like that...well, kind of behaved like that...
AriaIncognito Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 If he used to always look you in the eye, and no longer does, then I'd think he's hiding something or lying. If you study non-verbal communication they'll tell you that when someone is telling a lie they often shift their eyes/avoid eye contact. Jennifer
Mary3 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Not making eye contact ( assuming, he formerly did ) means he is not interested in you or what you have to say. He is also likely doing something that you might not approve. Whether that be cheating, gambling, or anything else that he feels guilty about. If he has ALWAYS looked at the floor , the wall , his shoes and did that for 4 years then he likely is either Shy or Depressed or in a Stressful situation right now.
