Wheeeee! I wish I lived in your world, it seems nicer. :lmao:

what about the two most devestating wars of the 20th century, WWI and WWII?

What about them? The Protestant Christian countries helped protected the world from potential global dictatorships along with the atheist Russians. Ok.

Read your own church documents before you start defending it.

i don't feel the need to read my own church documents as i have faith.

You are entitled to your own beliefs. Each individual is an individual, and I can not make judgements or generalisations about people. Again, only God can see the heart, and is qualified to judge people on a case by case.

i agree. so the point you were trying to make was...?

No, Islam is about war. You have the doctrine of jihad, and what deserves to happen to infidels. The Korean has references in it that encourages war against infidels, so the idea that is is a religion of peace is not an interpretation of true Islam.

People who make cartoons of Mohammed, or who write books against Islam, are under death-threat. However, when people take the name of the Christian God in vain, and even in movies, then nothing happens. Officially, in the Christian faith, the only real war is spiritual and it is not a flesh and blood conflict.

What you are saying is correct to an extent, but still does not diminish the arguement or proposition that Western democratic countries had a Protestant Christian foundation, and that all countries with a Protestant Christian foundation appear to be propsering and have democratic governments.

How much of the Koran have you actually read? Millions of people who are much more educated than you interpret the Koran differently. Glad to see the ignorant propoganda against Islam is working for you. Now, if I could only get that same propoganda for other religions- the world would be a better place.

The cartoons...Christians get pretty upset at certain depicitons of Christ. I remember The last temptation of Christ caused quite an uproar with Christians. The muslims react the way they do because they are poor and uneducated. They do not have the means or the sophistication to protest in other ways.

As far as christian countries being more democratic...ARE YOU SERIOUS??? If the west stayed out of the middle east and didn't prosper at their expense- the middle east would be a different place than it is today. The U.S. Coup de tat that removed the DEMOCRATICALLY elected President Moossadegh in Iran is an excellent example of this. The state of western governments have much less to do with religion than power and opportunity.

Please go rent a documentary about WWI and WWII.....

The Russians were our allies during WWII, we were fighting GERMANY in WW I. In WWII, we fought GERMANY, ITALY, and JAPAN.

I've read exerpts of the Koran on the internet, directly from a Muslim site. Their Koran promotes killing infidels if they do not convert. I also know about jihad and suicide bombers. Pretty much the best guarantee that a Muslim will go to heaven is they kill themselves and others and pay the ultimate sacrifice. Please.

No, they do not react in the same way. A Christian may object or get upset. So they will write letters, they will make their voice heard, boycott the production, leave the theatre and demand a refund, whatever.... Muslims on the other hand, want blood, they want the person who wrote it DEAD. Big, big difference.

There is no coincidence. The Bible says that nations that fear God shall be the head and not the tail. The Arabic Muslim Middle-East nations serve a false god, and have oppressive reguims, so that is why they are the tail.

The nation of Israel under King David and King Solomon propsered when it was walking with God. When they did not fear God, other nations ruled it.

Power and opportunity favour those whose history is premised on the right faith, so there is no coincidence.

...so where exactly does the christian extermination of jews in nazi germany fall?

...so where exactly does the christian extermination of jews in nazi germany fall?

What 'christian' extermination? Bible-believing born-again Christians were put to concentration camps just like every other minority group. Putting a 'christian' name on a diabolical reguime like that is an insult as God's final will for the Jews is build a nation that will rule the world directly out of Jerusalem. Jesus Christ Himself will rule the world, and then there will be world peace, and a perfect government, with perfect laws and institutions, and a perfect economy, and an ideal utopian society where everyone is happy forever. The devil will be locked up in a jail (bottom less pit), and that trouble maker will be out of site for 1000 years before it is put out again, then after it will be locked up there in hell forever.

All nations are controlled, the system is controled by the devil right now. So, Nazi Germany, was run by the devil. Wars that are occuring out there is all diabolical, all evil. Jesus will return back on the Mount of Olives and redeem this world and fix it up.

The Anti-Christ does what Hitler did not do. He goes into Jerusalem, sits in its temple, and declares himself to be god, and orders everyone to worship him and receive his mark or die. The Jews of course flee into the surrounding wilderness (possibly Jordon) to escape extermination, who are living in Israel, as this Gentile power takes over Israel by force. (Assuming in other places they have already been killed by the Anti-Christ).

The way this happens, is when the armies under the Anti-Christ start going against the last remaining Jews, and is ready to wipe them off the face of the earth, then Jesus Christ will come down on the Mount of Olives, causing the mountain to split in half and create a valley, as Moses parted the Red Sea and they fled Pharoah. Then the Jews shall go between the rocks of the mountain. An earthquake will occur destroying the armies that came against the Jews. Under the Anti-Christ, what Hitler attempted to do would look like a big joke. But, this time Jesus Christ Himself, not any American army, or no other world army is going to save the Jews from anniliation, and establish the Millenium Kingdom once the Anti-Christ and his armies are all destroyed by the brightness of His coming. The Messiah they rejected will be reconciled to them, and they will accept Jesus at that moment as their King and Messiah.

The rest of the post is theological, and can be found in the books of Isaiah, Zechariah, Acts, Revelation, Daniel, and many parts of the Bible.

Of course to someone who doesn't understand the Bible, or know about what the nation of Israel is in God's plan of redemption of humanity and governance, this is not surprising.

Claiming to be a Christian is meaningless if the actions do not support the profession - as Jesus said that many people will say Lord, Lord, and He will not know them - and say, depart, I know you not.

The devil can also appear as an angel of light. Just because someone says they are Christian means didily squat. Isaiah 1. The book of James. Actions speak louder than words.

I don't know what site you read from, but I'm assuming if I use your logic- reading excerpts from the Bible that supported the Spanish inquisition would be fair game right? I recommend you do more than read excerpts from 1 web site.

On suicide bombers- I imagine if the muslims could afford bulldozers and be able to bring them into Jewish communities or dump bombs and thousands of soldiers like the U.S. does to their targets- they would find little use for suicide bombers.

You know, the Arabs and Muslims think YOU'RE religion has a false god. Funny how that works huh? Their religion is growing much faster than yours BTW- even in western countries that are so 'forward.'

personally I think it takes much more courage to blow yourself up for your cause than it does to fly in a computerized B-2 stealth fighter and drop laser-guided bombs from 20,000 feet for your cause.

i think its funny when US media states these sucidide bombers are cowards....they have more balls and guts than anyone.

It's weird to see someone be this literal about the a historical document of a tribe of nomadic people, who taught their morals and values through fables and stories, as well as the history of their people.

I recently watch a documentary about the da Vinci code, it was interesting to say the least. I had no idea there were "Forbidden" gospels that were kept from the King James version of the bible!

The Bible does not support the Spanish Inquisition. The Roman Catholic Council of Trent, that defines what a heretic is, supports the Inquisition.

There is no Bible verse that encourages war, other than spiritual warfare, which is always going on. That is Ephesians 6. Anything in the Old Testament, as far as war is concerned, is metaphorical for the current spiritual war that is waged every single day. Wars dealing with tempation, lust, or persecution, or many types of things that challenge the faith.

That does not diminish the arguement of the doctrine of jihad, so what you just said is irrelevant.

They can think what they want to think. If I or anyone thinks different them they do then it is a death warrant. A strong faith does not have to resort to killing people.

Just you wait and see, everything I wrote on that post will happen.

They can rebuild the Temple you know and start all that stuff over again. The Anti-Christ has to sit in a rebuilt temple and defile it. They genetically redeveloped a Red Heifer, and the Third Temple should be constructed there in the future.

Economic control is possible by insertion of bar codes into hand and foreheads, making it technologically possible to have an economy controlled by people who have the mark of the beast.

These prophecies could be fulfilled before your very eyes, but you wouldn't want to see this Anti-Christ, because all religions are going to embrase him as some sort of savior or messiah. He will be like a new buddha, and show people a path to enlightenment (a false one of course). Appear good, but be evil.

The Jews was no ordinary nomadic tribe, they were the guardians of all the truths and revelations of God, and the tribe by whom all nations of this world would be blessed and redeemed, of which Jesus Christ was born. Now the true Christian church has taken over the role of Israel in the world (with exception of the Jews for Jesus sect - Messianic Jews who have received Jesus).

The Bible says that he causeth EVERYONE to receive the mark on the forehead and right hand, and if they do not receive it, they can not buy or sell.

At that point, it is a totalitarian government - like George Orwell's 1984, that are probably engineering its own disasters to get people to follow the Anti-Christ.

We have the technology now to have a more invasive and menanecing totalitarian society of society were to reorganise itself under one dictator. That means, even what you buy or sell could be under the direct control of the dictator, and you would require his mark in order to buy or sell anything.

meanwhile, back on topic...

i am wretched about this situation in afghanistan. but it's not a surprise. religious intolerance is rife and all those who speak out negatively against other religions as a reaction to perceived intolerance against their own, are blindly perpetuating what they're complaining about and should carry some part of the burden of responsibility for this man's life alongside his actual executioners, IMO.

sadly, you don't have to go to afghanistan to find intolerance or misinformation. they're live and kicking here here on the shack.

and since you probably don't know who you are, AT i am referring to you.

anything you speak in love is unfortunately perverted by your inability to be anything other than utterly rigid in your beliefs.

did god not teach you yet that 'with god everything is possible' means that you being right doesn't exclude other people from being right too, even when their beliefs differ from yours?

grow a little humility in the face of things you don't fully understand. perhaps then a conversation with you wouldn't always feel like being hit over the head with a righteous baseball bat. :p

That person who is being executed has something to die for because he is not recanting his beliefs? Do you have something to die for?

That is a perversion of the context of that text. Jesus said, He is the ONLY way to the Father. Text does not contradict text. What that text meant is that with Christ, mountains could be removed if you have enough faith.

It looks like there are things that you do not fully understand, and I could say the same thing about you.

clap, clap, clap ...

nice rebuttal, bluetuesday. You've phrased it much more politely and succinctly than I ever could have hoped to.

sadly enough, it's those misguided "I'm for Jesus" folks who end up giving Christianity a black eye because they disseminate fallacious information as they diss all other Christians in favor of their particular flavor of belief – their way is the only way to achieve God. Not much difference between them and a radical Jew or Muslim, IMNSHO ...

A Christian may object or get upset. So they will write letters, they will make their voice heard, boycott the production, leave the theatre and demand a refund, whatever....

they also torch abortion clinics and kill doctors who perform abortions because they believe in the sanctity of life.

back to OP's topic: this guy's story reminds me of when Salmon Rushdie had a death warrant placed on his head for penning "The Satanic Verses," which allegedly insulted Islam, the Koran and the prophet Muhammed.

Makes me appreciate how truly free we are in America - that we do NOT have government sanctioned religion with laws to enforce beliefs and worship. Can you imagine what would be done to us if we lived in Afghanistan and they found our posts on this website!!

Cat Stevens is/was a 1960's 1970's singer/songwriter. I can't remember all of his songs - Morning Has Broken is one of them. He converted to Islam and changed his name. He's still recording I think. I think he was raised Roman Catholic.

After reading your post, Quank, (and I'm going to be torched for this I'm sure!) I can see a correlation between American Government in its purest form and the Christian God and Jesus. Both allow their subjects (for lack of a better word) to freely choose what to believe. The difference is that the Christian God does have a punishment in store for those who choose not to believe - that being eternal damnation.

Well said. It's good to see there are some level headed posters who know what I'm talking about. People may not like the eternal consequences part, but as far as their own life is concerned in this world, they can believe whatever they want to believe. In the end, people who claim my views are intolerable are intolerable themselves, because they object to my faith, and they object that I'm strong in what I believe, and really have no further grounds of objection other than those two.

That is not related to saying the Lord's name in vain, or publishing something. We are talking about killing people for their faith or beliefs.

Abortion activists are not defending a faith in principle, they believe they are defending a human life from murder. For example, if a robber were to hold your only child, and threaten to kill it, and you had a gun, and killed the robber to save your child, would you be suddenly a religious extremist? No.

Some abortion activists would have the same mentality and believe they are saving an innoscent child. So, I do not see how that would even be a religious issue, perhaps a misguided social justice issue. Perhaps we can start talking about Revolutions now on oppressive governments, and say, bad government officials are killed because they believe in freedom and justice for all citizens and also call them religious fanatics. So, I really do not understand why you would mix up a social justice issue with a religious one.

Posted

does the commandment, "Thou shalt not kill" ring a bell? I do believe that refers even to those scenarios you've brought up. Killing is killing, period. Gunning down an abortion provider to save a baby is flawed logic. And I particularly mentioned it in the previous post because some people embrace that flawed logic, saying that it's no different from launching a protest or writing letters to the editor in opposition to abortions being provided in their communities. And those folks consider themselves good, God-fearing Christians who are doing their jobs to protect unborn babies.
