inertia_creeps Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Hi I post on this site, in another forum.. im sure some people may know this already. I have recently stopped playing football due to a bad knee - its since been given the all clear via an MRI scan - so im ready to excercise again. I have no desire to play again because recently i have seen some horrific injuries and basically there are too many idiots playing that ruin it for people. Even when i was playing football - i was never skinny and always carrying a bit of excess weight, now i would say i could do with losing at least a stone and a half. I feel lethargic and unmotivated - this is largely down to my bad diet which i know i need to sort out quickly. Today i joined the gym which im hoping will give me the kick up my arse that i need to get in shape. What worries me most, and what i am concerned about is diet. I tried a body fat monitor and was really embarrassed by the results, i dont want to say what it was! I need to know what i can do to healthily and successfully lower my body fat. I have the excercise taken care of, i need the diet advice now.. can anyone help?
catgirl1927 Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 For me, being in shape was never the problem, but to be thin I had to cut back on food. I can literally do cardio and weights for 2 hours every single day and still be fat if I don't eat right. I like Weight Watchers. It's simple and it works.
Author inertia_creeps Posted March 16, 2006 Author Posted March 16, 2006 i make you right, it took me so long to understand that. I used to excercise alot and still b chubby, i couldnt understand why. looking back, given the amount of crap i eat, it figures out now:lmao:
MattB Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 go to http://www.fitday.com and start logging your diet. It helps you control and see exactly what you are eating. I can make a few suggestions for you. First off, change your eating habits. Eat many small meals, primarily during the day especially during workouts. The goal is for your body to burn the calories you are consuming and not to store them as fat. So make your dinner meal smaller. If you decided to go as far as counting calories, you want to get as many of the calories during the day as you can to fuel your workouts. That ensures you are getting everything you can out of it. in terms of what you eat... stay away from simple carbs (sugar) and white flour. HFCS and white flour are the devil. I cut out both of them from my diet completely and have noticed the difference. Also try to avoid high amounts of fat. That's on of the big downfalls to the "low carb" diets. Too many people concentrate so much on cutting carbs, they allow high volumes of fat. Go ahead and keep some carbs, just make sure they come in the form of complex carbs (whole grain bread, rice, pasta, ect.).
