Wow. I have never dreamed about my ex. Not even when we were dating. Last night I had this funky dream about a white box van. I had bought it for some reason, was in the truck with 3 people and the ex. I ended up getting slapped by someone in the truck. I asked who it was it and was one of the guys so I proceded to pound his face in. The whole time my ex is just sitting there. Saying nothing, doing nothing. Just watching....

It's just weird because I never dream about her. Ever.

consider yourself lucky. I cant stop dreaming about my ex!! I had one last night where her and I were going to see a friend that I have not seen in years. While walking in she stopped me and stated that I have to make it clear that we are not together, she made me promise. Then I awoke and felt like sh*t!

Ouch that sucks. I guess I do have some things to be thankful for!

I found this fascinating so I hope you don't mind me trying to interpret it....(Admittedly I recently signed up to this site and don't know much about your past w/ex)

Theory #1--The three people in the truck have no significant meaning (esp. if you don't recall who they are) as they are only a projection of yourself---figuratively beating yourself up over a particular situation---namely a situation with your ex.

Theory #2--If you do recall who the people are, you feel one of them had taken a part in your demise with your ex while she said by in feigned denial.

These are off the top of my head...

I think #1 probably makes the most sense. I don't know who any of the people were in the truck. Never seen them before (and none of them were her current bf, whom I have met).

It's hard to resist telling her about it but I know that would be stupid.

She did have a dream once of being in an accident and me carrying her in my arms. She told me about that dream roughly a year ago.

Nah....

I would say that he was beating the girl's new boyfriend.

Theory #3

Especially if you feel vindicated when you woke up.

No, I did not feel vindicated. As I said, I know what he looks like and it wasn't him. I have nothing to be angry about with him. It's not like he stole her from me. We weren't dating when she met him. He's actually a nice guy and I am sure he treats her well.

When I dream, I usually dream about odd things like demons and such. Never have I ever dreamed about an Ex before.

I want to tell her about the dream but know I shouldn't. I do think that it means she is "watching" me. You know, checking my every move to see when I am going to 'break down' and start calling or emailing her every day. I haven't done it.

At least to that degree I haven't been my typical clingy self with her. At least there is some measurable amount of improvement.

Hey Caliguy just keep on trucking. You give out great advice, so you know what to do.

Maybe she is a demon?

I've had dreams about my ex, then wake up and think about her, but I don't get sad, I just think of it as a memory that I had with her, good or bad.

i'd like to try and interpret this dream, if i may. first off, she represented herself. the others are a representation of those only you can find meaning to, CG. she slapped you, representing hurt. you were in the driver's seat, representing "being in control", and lastly, white...which is symbolic of tranquility.

what i think all this means is although you have experienced some turmoil in the relationship with the ex, you are on the path to healing and have made peace with the situation. i think it's a great dream, actually.

Thanks. But in the dream I know she didn't slap me, one of the guys did. She was there, but doing nothing or saying nothing. Just kind of 'there' watching me - observing, if you will.

I hope I am on the path to healing. I've been on a few dates but nothing too promising.

hi. i thought you said you had to ask who slapped you. like you weren't sure. but she sat by silently. i interpret that as she was the one, which would make sense if she hurt you in the past (not really quite sure what your relationship deal is, other than a couple of threads i've seen but nothing definitive...) but the most important thing here is that it was a white vehicle and you were in the driver's seat. this truly signifies power, of being "in charge". also too, and i quote from a book, regarding white: "these images are conveying the capacity for renewal and cleansing that is inherent in the psyche and which comes to the front when needed" i think that subconsciously you have a handle on accepting the relationship for what it was...JMO

I should have clarified that. I know it was one of the guys in the truck, just not sure which one. It definitely wasn't her though. She was just 'there', not doing or anything anything. It was almost creepy, as if it was a shell of her there. No personality, no smile, no nothing.

Yes, white box van and I was driving.

But in signifying power and in charge -- in charge of what??? Certainly not the relationship because she basically had the reins. I tried to keep the relationship going and she did everything she could to derail it.

in charge of your reaction in handling what was done to you and the power to move forward....sorry if i got too deep there, but really i think it means you are no longer stuck in the hole of letting your thoughts of her consume you...that you now are in control of your thoughts....i really think it's a good dream...

Dude - I dream about my ex all night every night. It sucks to go to bed.

Posted

last night was the first night where I didnt dream about her!!! let's hope this lasts. I read a book before I went to sleep, maybe that helps.

probably a book did help, Hurt Beyond Words. it took your mind off of her. i only dreamed of him for like a week, not so long ago. they were so real. like he was such a part of my life in my dream. and it was like every night too. but for me it's been a year and 6 days actually since i said goodbye. i think that's why i dreamed of him, looking back and seeing how far i've come since then. funny though, i had zero emotion. i can't imagine dreaming of the ex every night and they're full of emotion...that's gotta be tough.

Wow, over a year now? How are you holding up? How are you different now than you were after the break up? What stages did you go through?

I never dream about my ex, that's why this dream was so significant. But I do still think about her a lot. Typical stuff, what she's up to, etc. I know she doesn't deserve my mine and and I'm not giving it to her.

I've been disciplined, even though at times I don't want to be.

i was the dumper in my relationship CaliGuy, because i was tired of being dumped on. i lived a nightmare, so i really appreciate the dreams as you probably already figured. a bad dream you can wake up from but when it's your life, well that is a whole other story...
