I recently started going to a gym. i am 5'9" and i hate being that tall. on top of it, i think that athletic sneakers seriously add 2 inches to one's height making me almost 6 feet tall. all of the people i go to the gym with are nice cute little girls and i really just want to be that size with shoes on, bc i find myself always taking off my sneakers just to feel comfortable.

SO ALL IN ALL WHY I AM HERE IS:

does anyone know of a good pair of shoes that are fashionable (puma, nike etc) that are low and good for runnng and the gym??

also does ne one else have this problem??

I don't think you'll find a shoe that doesn't add an inch to your height (and I doubt that ANY athletic shoe ads two inches. Those are called "heels" :) )

I can definitely hear the frustration in your post, but I don't think you'll find any escape from being 5'9". You're tall. I have freckles. That's just the way it is.

However, I can suggest one thing: Think of what those "nice cute little girls" are probably thinking when they look at you (if they are looking at you at all--many of them are probably focused on their own workouts and don't see who's around them). Many of them are probably thinking what I think when I see someone who's 5'8" to 5'10", which is, "Man, she looks good. I wish I were that tall." I'm only 5'6" and I've always wanted to be a few inches taller!

Everyone has something she wishes were different about her appearance--and everyone has someone else who looks at her and wishes for that very trait.

Be tall! It's not a bad thing.

try the 5 ounce nike ones.

they are honesty the most comfortable and light tennis shoe i have had.

my kids bought for me for christmas and they feel like a slipper! so light and comfy, not a big base to them, check it out - probably on their website...

i think around $80.00

Hey,

i find that pumas are the flattest shoe which you can run in/be casual in.

if you want a really good running shoe, get New Balance. if you usually get a shoe deemed "tennis" shoe..they usually do the trick of being flat...crosstrainers are usually a bit high since they have more rubber in them ( the rubber absorbs shock when you are running)

hopefully this helps!

if you're going to be running, then get the shoe that fits your stride, and don't worry about height. Running in a shoe with very little sole, means that it will have no cushoning or support, which will lead to injury unless you have a perfect arch and foot strike.

The Nike Free 5.0 are nice shoes. Like walking barefoot. I know some people that run in them and they say they don't last all that long. I've heard pretty good things about the Puma H. Streets though.

oh, please don't by nikes, they have the worst sweatshops! i know this isn't a political forum but nikes....grrrr! new balance and pumas have great comfy breathable, cute little shoes. i run in a pair of new balance shoes everyday and i've had em forever, the heels have got to be under 1/2 an inch tall and they don't wear out quick
