So here's my situation. My father went away for 7 years ( I was about 17). My step dad who's been married to my mom for 11 years really stepped up to the plate and has been there for me. I love them both very much and would like to have them both give me away. What would be the proper way to do this? My step father has already commited to pay for most of the wedding while my father doesn't have as much but will contribute also, if that makes a difference. My mom wants my step dad to walk me down the aisle to my father... I was thinking maybe my father ( the first man in my life) walks me to my step dad ( the second man in my life) and then they both give me away. I don't know, I need some advice.

I think this would be lovely. You are lucky to have two men that you love and consider father. If this is what you want to do, I say go for it!

My brother and I have walked 3 of my sisters down the Aisle..

He on one side and me on the other .. Arm in Arm.

They felt that was the way to do it instead of handing off in the middle..

My dad passed away in the 80's so we became the man influence in their lives and they didn't want to make a choice

I have lived with my step dad since I was 3...my dad was always in my life, ie holidays (we moved 3 states away) but recently we have gotten very close again. I like the idea of having them both walk me down the isle and give me away since they are both such a huge influence in my life. Handing off is a great idea as well, and it is completely UP TO YOU how to do this, it is your day (remember that) and if you like the symbolism of having your father walk you to your step father then that is what you should do

I think that's perfect. It acknowledges that they both have important roles in your life. If your mom, biodad, and stepdad all agree, you are good to go!

I am in a similar situation as you - 'cept that I dont think getting my bio-dad and step-dad in the same room let alone country will ever happen.

My sister walked herself down the aisle. I will too.

Just an option to consider.
