Guest Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 I'm interested in one of my colleages, but don' t know what to do. We're on really friendly terms, and I know that he definitely likes me as a friend and respects me, but not sure if he's interested in more. He helped me move, we've hung out in groups a couple times, hung out with his friends, but it's kind of sporadic. Should I?: 1. Sit back, and be friendly, but don't really go out of my way and wait to see if he makes a move. 2. take an indirect approach. Make more of a point of developing the friendship, and see what develops from that. 3. Take a direct approach (eg. ask him on a date or tell him I'm interested). 4. something else? I'm kind of puzzled that he hasn't asked me out yet, and am inclined to interpret that to mean that he isn't interested in anything more than what we already have. The relationships that I've been in always began with the guy being really up front and asking me out early on. A couple times I've been interested in a friend, and tried letting him know, but it backfired or he wasn't interested or something (which is why I'm hesitant about #3--direct approach). #1 (nothing) is what I've been doing. I've never actually navigated the path from friends to relationship... and the process baffles me a bit. Advice?

You can't let past results determine your initial course. If you like him and tried 1 & 2, try #3. If he does not like you more than friends; at least you got your answer.
